An Australian activist’s viral stunt has come to an abrupt end at LAX. Drew Pavlou says he was deported from the United States after attempting to enter the country on what he describes as a “performance art” mission targeting Billie Eilish’s California mansion. The activist had publicly announced plans to camp outside the singer’s property following her controversial Grammy speech criticizing ICE. Instead of pitching a tent in Glendale, Pavlou found himself detained by immigration authorities for more than 30 hours before being sent back home.
Billie Eilish’s Grammy Speech Sparks Backlash

The controversy stems from Billie Eilish’s Grammy acceptance speech on February 1, where the “Bad Guy” singer made pointed remarks about immigration enforcement. “As grateful as I feel, I honestly don't feel like I need to say anything but that no one is illegal on stolen land,” she said. “And f-ck ICE, that's all I'm gonna say. Sorry!”
Her comments drew criticism, particularly because her multi-million dollar Glendale mansion sits on land historically belonging to the Tongva people. Pavlou claimed he wanted to test her statement by camping on her property, calling it a form of “performance art.”
Pavlou Raises Thousands To Fund Plan To Camp Outside Eilish’s Mansion

Before boarding his flight, Pavlou announced plans to move into Eilish’s gated mansion in Glendale. The 2,100-square-foot property includes a separate guesthouse, horse stables, and an arena. Pavlou wrote that his plan was to travel to the U.S. and set up camp outside the gates of Eilish’s home until “someone told him to leave.”
He also raised $3,000 through GoFundMe before the page was taken down. Afterward, he moved his fundraising efforts to GiveSendGo, where he continued collecting donations to fund the trip.
Eventually, Pavlou purchased his ticket and embarked on what he described as a “totally legal” plan. “Everything here is completely and totally legal, I am just going to set up a tent on her driveway, and I will leave when they formally ask me to leave,” Pavlou said. “No human being is illegal on stolen land.”

Billie Eilish got me deported from the US - I think her legal team contacted DHS

Instead of reaching Glendale, Pavlou says he was detained at Los Angeles International Airport for more than a day. “Billie Eilish got me deported from the US - I think her legal team contacted DHS (Department of Homeland Security),” Pavlou claimed. “I spent 30 hours at LAX immigration trying to explain that my sh-t posts were just a joke and that I didn't actually plan to personally move into her mansion."
“Honestly, most of the agents were nice and laughed at the idea, but there was nothing I could do, maybe evil leftists are still in charge of sections of the bureaucracy," he continued. “I guess some people are, in fact, actually illegal on stolen land. And I guess I am just a bad guy.”
Activist Says Border Agents Asked About Eilish Trespass Plan

He also described his interaction with customs officials. “They asked me if I planned to 'trespass on Billie Eilish's property' to which he replied, 'no, I was sh-tposting.' “They asked me if I planned to try to meet Billie Eilish I said no, of course not.”
Pavlou later admitted officers told him he had entered the country with the wrong visa. “They then said I should have applied for a business visa to go on Stephen Crowder's show in Texas (I was invited and scheduled to go on February 19)," he said. "They didn't ban me from the US, but they said I have to apply with a different visa next time. So sad.”
Border Officials Shut Down Viral Mansion Protest Attempt

While Pavlou maintains the mission was satire, his attempt to “occupy” Eilish’s property never made it past airport security.
The activist now claims his deportation was tied to the viral nature of his posts, though officials reportedly cited visa issues as the reason for his removal.
