Travis Kelce's Mom Breaks Silence Amid Retirement Buzz

The future of Travis Kelce's career is not a family affair and only lies in his hands, at least that is what his mom is saying.

The NFL star's mother is addressing the rumors surrounding his possible retirement, clearing her involvement in his decision. The question of the next step for the player has raised eyebrows after he hinted at the possibility of closing that chapter of his life.

Travis Kelce's mom, as well as the Kansas City Chiefs' owner, Clark Hunt, shared their thoughts on his retirement, weighing both sides of the coin but ultimately echoing similar views on who has the final say on the matter.

Travis's mom, Donna, has weighed in on the buzzing whispers about her son's retirement from his career as an NFL player. She says that while he has her full support, the decision is left to him.

Travis has no pressure from her end as he weighs his options of returning to the Kansas City Chiefs, signing with a different team in free agency, or walking off, calling it a legendary career.

Speaking to TMZ, she said, "You know, I just want him to do what he feels comfortable doing. He's gotta talk to people in his life to decide what he wants to do." The superstar's mom added that she was not certain about her son's decision but is remaining optimistic.

Donna stressed that when it comes to her son's career, her role is simply that she stays on the sidelines, cheering him on and supporting whatever decision he takes. Travis is reportedly not under pressure from his family to return to the fields or explore other options. 

The topic of retirement has been circling around Travis throughout the offseason despite his record over his 13-season-long career with the Chiefs.

Following his recently concluded contract with his team, the big question hung around the sports star. He also admitted to thinking about how much longer his body and mind want to handle the hassle of NFL life.

Speaking to his older brother, Jason, on the January 7 episode of the "New Heights" podcast, he shared an insight into his thoughts as concerns his career. Jason joked that he was now jobless as his contract had ended, and Travis agreed, stating that doing the podcast was his only job currently.

He also delved into the loss his team faced during the season before talking about his plans going forward, saying that it was a tough decision for him. The Blast shared that the NFL player could not guarantee his return to the sport as he was strongly considering his physical health. He said:

"If my body can heal up and rest up and I feel confident, I can give it another 18, 20, 21-week run, I think I would do it in a heartbeat."

Besides Travis's dire need for physical rest and recovery from the grind of the previously concluded season, he might put football behind him to make time for a life outside the sports industry.

Sources claim that Travis might be gearing up for a future in Hollywood, as many in the industry, including mega company Netflix, were ready to have him hop on their team.

They claim that the opportunity was on the table for Travis and Jason to come in as a pair. A sports media advisor, John Kosner, said that ESPN could collaborate with the Kelce brothers.

All these came amid Travis's teammates expressing their desire to have him back on the team with them. Chris Jones, Chiefs defensive tackle, shared that he hopes the media personality would consider playing for one more year before spreading his wings away from football.

A lot of voices have chimed in on Travis's next step, and notably, his team owner, Clark Hunt, has something to say. Hunt disclosed that he believes the podcaster still has more to give to the sport despite the recent rocky seasons.

"He had another great year, maybe not on par with where he was four or five years ago, but still had over 800 yards, and was really one of the leaders on the offensive side of the ball for us," Hunt said in an interview.

He added that he strongly believes that Travis can still be a star on the field, but the team is not running a pressure campaign against him; instead, they are being respectful of his choices and letting the NFL player take as much time as he needs to make a decision. The Blast noted that Hunt did not fail to share his hopes that Travis chooses to return.

Widespread rumors that Travis, who recently got engaged to popular singer Taylor Swift, has suspended their wedding plans. The NFL star showed that his mind is keen on his upcoming union by asking for marriage advice on his podcast last month, as shared by The Blast.

The brothers spoke about marriage, sharing that the show's intern, Brandon Borders, had recently gotten engaged. "Do you have any advice for him, and him alone, on the five must-haves at a good wedding?" he asked, hinting at wedding advice for himself.

Jason teased his brother, too, asking him to send out his wedding invites soon. Hunt also noted that the decision for the team to give Travis time was in consideration of his engagement and upcoming wedding.
