Reports of a white tent set up at Nancy Guthrie’s home have sent the internet into a frenzy, with multiple conspiracy theories emerging across social media.

Guthrie was abducted from her Tucson-area home in early February 2026.

Investigators have since intensified their search efforts while her daughter, TODAY show co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, continues to plead publicly for her mother’s safe return.

The tent itself was not up for very long, as the investigators took it down and cleared the scene shortly afterward.

The appearance of a white tent outside Guthrie’s home has predictably caused a stir on social media, with users floating a wave of theories about its purpose.

On X, one user appeared convinced the structure signaled a looming breakthrough in the investigation.

“Whether they are uncovering a buried item or doing a second sweep of the abduction point, the FBI is clearly closing in on the physical trail of the person who took Nancy Guthrie,” the post read.

A more measured take from Reddit suggested the tent may have been set up simply as a precaution ahead of forecasted rain.

“Rain is in the forecast for tomorrow,” the commenter wrote. “Maybe they are preparing for that.”

The white tent was erected amid ongoing search operations being coordinated in a joint effort by the FBI and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department to locate Guthrie.

The presence of federal agents and local investigators has increased in recent days, with the officers conducting searches of surrounding roadways and canvassing neighborhoods for security footage and additional evidence tied to the case.

According to ABC, tens of thousands of tips have been submitted since Guthrie’s disappearance, prompting both agencies to release a joint statement thanking the public.

“We thank the media and the public for the thousands of tips submitted through the various tip lines,” the statement read.

The white tent that had briefly appeared outside Guthrie’s residence was taken down roughly an hour and a half after it was erected, as investigators wound down activity at the scene.

They reportedly left the area in unmarked vehicles with a case labeled “video forensics.”

The structure had been placed at the same front porch entryway where surveillance images captured a person of interest around the time Guthrie was last seen.

Despite the intense speculation, however, authorities have not offered a public explanation for the installation and subsequent removal of the tent.

Investigators Discover Black Glove Near Nancy Guthrie’s Home

FBI agents conducting an expanded search in the area surrounding Guthrie’s home recovered a black glove along a roadside roughly one and a half miles from the property.

Photos and video published by the New York Post show members of the FBI’s Evidence Response Team retrieving the glove during what officials described as an “extensive search” of the neighborhood.

The glove reportedly resembles those worn by a masked individual seen in previously released surveillance footage outside Guthrie’s home the night she disappeared.

Authorities have not confirmed whether the item is connected to the abduction, and investigators declined to comment on the potential evidentiary value of the discovery.

Savannah Guthrie Shares Emotional Home Video Of Her Mother

As the search for her missing mother entered its second week, Savannah posted an old home video of Nancy to her Instagram account, showing the family together during happier times.

In the caption, Savannah expressed support for their mom, saying that the family will keep believing that she will be found.
