Medic Reveals Lindsey Vonn Was ‘In A Lot Of Pain’ Before Being Airlifted From The Slopes

A medic who treated Vonn on the slope later described the intensity of the moment, revealing just how much pain she was in following the crash. Speaking to Spanish outlet El Mundo, Dr. Thomas Spallinger said he and a Carabinieri officer reached her on skis and immediately recognized the severity of her injuries.

“She was in a lot of pain at the time,” Spallinger explained. “I rushed to begin treatment on site and stabilized her. Given the nature of her injury, we decided to arrange for her to be transferred to the hospital by rescue helicopter.”

He added that Vonn needed to be calmed as they waited for the helicopter to arrive, with her physical therapist stepping in to help keep her steady amid the agony.
