Cher has opened up about a past traumatic incident that saw a friend's roommate's boyfriend sexually assault her at the age of 17.
According to her memoir, the 79-year-old singer was scared to tell her then-partner, Sonny Bono, of the incident, as she feared what he would have done to her assailant.
Cher previously opened up about a "weird" interaction she had with the late Phil Spector when he allegedly asked her to sleep with him.
Cher Details Past Sexual Assault Experience At Age 17

Cher has detailed a harrowing incident in which she was sexually assaulted by the boyfriend of a friend's roommate at the age of 17.
At the time, she was in a relationship with Sonny Bono, but noted that she couldn't tell him about the ugly incident because she feared he'd "murder" the attacker.
Explaining how it happened, the "If I Could Turn Back Time" singer noted that Bono was working late at the studio one evening in 1963, prompting her to spend the night over at a friend's place.
"Bored and a little fearful by myself, I spent a night with my friend and former roommate Josita, who lived in a two-bedroom apartment with her boyfriend, Ulle, and another girl," she explained, per the Daily Mail.
The "Moonstruck" actress then shared that after an outing that evening, they all went back home to the friend's place and fell asleep.
However, a short while later, she became "aware of somebody lying next to me with their hand in my underpants. Half-asleep, I thought I was home and then suddenly remembered that I wasn't."
"It was dark, and all I could see was the outline of a man. Frozen, I lay there, my heart racing, until he moved slightly away," she added.
The Singer Couldn't Tell Sonny Bono About The Assault

Cher went further to explain that she had to devise a plan to escape the assault incident.
She recalled, "Pretending to be drowsy, I got up and went into the bathroom, unsure what to do. When I heard a door close, I prayed he'd left, but the minute I realised he was still there, I ran past him into Josita's bedroom, screaming."
"Ulle jumped up and turned on the light and saw that their roommate's drunken boyfriend had returned home with his girlfriend, and seeing me lying on the couch, he thought he'd just lie down next to me and let his hands wander," she noted.
The incident left her rattled, so much so that she couldn't tell her own boyfriend, Bono, at the time.
"It took me the rest of the night to calm down, and I didn't dare breathe a word to Sonny for fear he'd murder the guy," she shared.
Cher Opens Up About 'Weird' Experience With Phil Spector

Cher also wrote about a "weird" interaction she had with the late Phil Spector.
Having met him in the early 1960s through her boyfriend at the time, Antonino LoTempio, Cher noted that Spector invited her to meet him in his hotel room.
"He might have been a demigod to many, but he acted weird, and I didn't like how he stared at me," she wrote of the music producer in her book, "The Memoir Part One."
"'Voulez-vous coucher avec moi?' he said, smirking, asking me to sleep with him," Cher penned. "Without breaking a sweat, I gave him a look back and replied, 'Oui, pour l'argent.'"
Cher's sharp response meant, "Yes, for the money."
The singer noted in her book about the moment: "You could have knocked him over with a feather. He didn't think I'd understand the question, let alone have an answer."
The Singer Shut Down Rumors That She Plans To Marry Her Partner, Alexander 'A.E.' Edwards

Meanwhile, the singer was recently plagued by marriage rumors after a report claimed that the talented performer "doesn't give a hoot" about the 40-year age gap between her and her current partner, Alexander "A.E." Edwards.
"She has set her heart on walking down the aisle with him around the time of her landmark birthday in May," a source told The Mirror. "She sees her upcoming celebration at turning 80 as the perfect time for her and Alexander to seal the deal."
However, a rep for Cher quickly slammed the rumors, telling The Gossip List, "There is absolutely no plans for a wedding in her future."
Cher Is In Love And Unbothered By The Critics

Cher, 79, has been very open about her love for Edwards, 39, despite constant criticisms due to their age gap.
While speaking with Gayle King on the US daytime TV chat show, "CBS Mornings," she noted, "You know, you get older, but your spirit is younger. I just love him. I think he's beautiful and he's really talented."
The iconic singer also express how little she cared about people's opinions of her relationship, stating, "They're not living my life. Nobody knows what goes on between us. We just have a blast."
