Prince George’s 8th birthday is coming up and it has become a royal tradition to release different portraits of the royals on their birthdays. Usually, these are great photo opportunities. In some of the milestone events like a christening of a baby, we get the whole family to come out.

As discussed earlier this week, 8 years old is a bit of a milestone for royal boys as they switch their traditional shorts for pants and a suit and tie for formal events. However, this year Kate and William could choose to forgo the photo op. All over the fear of internet trolls!

The idea that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge would forgo the photo op for Prince George’s 8th birthday was actually recently floated around by royal biographer Angela Levin. She is basically saying that Kate and William are fed up with the trolls. She told UK’s True Royal TV

“There are rumors that we might not see the photograph [of Prince George] when he’s eight, because they’ve been so upset by the rudeness of people mocking a little boy aged seven, and I hope they can overcome that,”

We did a little digging of our own taking a deep dive into the comment sections of some of the more recent posts that the official Dukes of Cambridge page on IG had made of the children. From what we were able to pick up there was nothing, but positive comments.

When you see that though, that usually means that there’s someone weeding out the negative ones and the other comments that are typically promoting something. Maybe the royals are getting their spam folder filled with trolls!

It was actually very recently reported that Prince George was officially told that he is expected to become king one day. This was something that William was probably not so keen to do to his child at such a young age. According to royal sources William had a really rough time himself when he was told he would one day become king. He potentially wanted to wait more time to break the news to his son. It’s like the royal version of telling your kids Santa Claus doesn’t exist!

If we had to make a guess on whether or not Kate and William will take a pass on the photo op for Geroge’s 8th birthday we’d bet they won’t. George’s appearance beside his parents in the stands at the European Championships seems to have been a major success.

Getting used to large crowds and getting used to hearing the criticism is sadly something that George is going to have to learn to do. Even though Kate and William are not keen to throw him into the deep end just yet, it’s going to come sometime!
