Investigators are intensifying efforts to locate Savannah Guthrie's mom, Nancy Guthrie, whose disappearance has triggered a growing multi-state search and mounting concerns about her safety.

In the latest development, police were spotted towing a vehicle away from the 84-year-old's home, with a neighbor also reportedly alerting law enforcement to search her roof for clues.

As federal agencies expand their involvement and the family pleads for answers, authorities say the Nancy Guthrie disappearance case is being treated as a serious and ongoing criminal investigation.

Police activity intensified Friday at the Tucson home of Nancy Guthrie as investigators continued searching for clues in her disappearance.

Multiple law enforcement vehicles were seen at the property throughout the day, and authorities later towed away a blue SUV.

Officials were also observed removing what appeared to be a device from the roof, though it remains unclear how either item factors into the investigation. The Pima County Sheriff's Office has not yet explained why the vehicle was seized.

According to the New York Post, Nancy's neighbor, Laura Gergano, admitted she tipped off the police to check the missing octogenarian's roof due to its clean condition compared to others.

As detectives comb through Nancy's property, the search is expanding beyond Arizona. According to FBI Phoenix Public Affairs Officer Brooke A. Brennan, billboards displaying Nancy's photo and FBI contact information are set to appear in parts of Texas, New Mexico, and California in an effort to generate new leads.

Adding to the public attention, President Donald Trump said on Friday that investigators are "very close" to a breakthrough, suggesting a suspect could be identified soon. However, authorities have not confirmed this claim.

Nancy, 84, was reported missing early Sunday after she failed to appear at church. She was last seen Saturday night with family members.

Investigators have also since confirmed that the blood found outside the home belongs to Nancy. During a press briefing, Sheriff Chris Nanos said the evidence indicates she did not leave on her own and that authorities are treating the location as an active crime scene.

Bloodstain pattern experts have weighed in on what the evidence could suggest.

Paulette Sutton, a retired analyst with more than four decades of experience, told Newsweek the blood pattern resembles a drip trail, consistent with a "continuous source of blood dripping from an object or from a person."

She said the injury could be something as simple as a nosebleed, though it still indicates that Nancy was hurt.

Retired FBI agent Gregory Vecchi echoed that assessment, saying the trail shows she sustained enough of an injury to bleed noticeably.

Experts further noted that if Nancy takes blood thinners, even a minor injury could result in heavier bleeding.

"We would take that into consideration as well, that if Ms. Guthrie has that kind of history, she might bleed more than, say, someone like myself who's not on blood thinners from the same injury," Sutton said.

Investigators Scrutinize 20-Minute Surveillance Gap As Possible 'Test' By Nancy Guthrie's Abductor

Investigators are also closely examining the timeline of Nancy's disappearance. Sheriff Nanos confirmed that Nancy's doorbell camera went offline around 1:47 a.m. Sunday, and investigators believe she was taken from her home while asleep.

Although the camera disconnected, motion was still detected at 2:12 a.m., leaving a roughly 20-minute gap that remains unexplained.

NBC News law enforcement analyst Tom Winter suggested the interruption may have been deliberate.

He said the person responsible could have removed the camera as a way to "test" whether authorities would respond immediately, returning only after determining it was safe to do so.

Winter cautioned, however, that it remains unclear which camera recorded the later motion.

Expert Suggests Savannah Guthrie's Public Profile May Be Central To Mother's Abduction

As investigators consider motive, former CIA officer and FBI special agent Tracy Walder has suggested the abduction may be tied more to Savannah Guthrie's public profile than to money, despite reports of a ransom note demanding millions in cryptocurrency.

Speaking to Page Six, Walder said Savannah's income is largely public knowledge and noted that far wealthier individuals exist.

"I am not convinced it's fully about money," she said. She suggested the abduction could stem from an unhealthy fixation on Savannah or resentment related to her work, noting that it could be a "person that has some kind of beef with Savannah because of whatever story she covered or whoever she interviewed."

Walder added that Savannah's visibility may have placed her family at risk in ways they never anticipated.

"I don't think she would have ever thought something like this could happen, but I think it's a reminder to us that we need to make sure [personal information] stays private," the former FBI agent stated.
