You’ve seen Shaquille O’Neal on the basketball court, in movies, commercials for Gold Bond and The General, but now you’ll be able to HEAR him when you wake up or when you’re being called for dinner.
Yesterday on July 15, The Blast reported that Shaq is the latest celebrity to lend his voice to Amazon’s Alexa device.
Samuel L. Jackson’s voice is currently available to purchase for your Alexa, and Melissa McCarthy recently lent her voice to the device as well.
Shaq revealed lending his voice to Alexa was quote, “one of the most difficult things I’ve ever done.”

Seems a bit dramatic, but hey, reading out of the dictionary isn’t everyone’s strong suit!

E! News got an exclusive interview with the former NBA star to talk about this new venture.
When asked about how he reacted to Amazon reaching out to him about this project he said, “I was amazed, I was flabbergasted. I know my voice will add extra personality to the Alexa experience.”
He noted that he wants his voice feature to be as good as Samuel L. Jackson’s.
Shaq’s favorite Alexa feature is well, everything!
“I’ll wake you up in the morning, for dinner – I’ve got you covered, I can give you the weather, tell you a story, I love all the features. I heard a prototype the other day, it was pretty awesome,” the former Lakers player said.
As for other celebrities Shaq would love to hear on his Alexa, Charles Barkley, because “he’s weird.”
The two ballers work together on “Inside The NBA” and exchange hilarious banter on-air.
Maybe we get a Shaq/Charles Alexa collab?!? Amazon, have your people call my people.
Like many kids, Shaq’s kids don’t seem too interested in what their dad is up to.
He told the outlet, “I’m going to tell them to ask Alexa, ‘Hey let me talk to Shaq’ and I think they’re going to be surprised.”
While no details about what Shaq will say on Alexa have been revealed, it’s clear from his comments that he will act as an alarm, weatherman and tell you a bed time story.
While Shaq’s work with Alexa has been kept on the ‘DL,’ McCarthy fans got some phrases straight from the source herself.
Some phrases the actress will say to you include, “I wish I had an exotic name like Svetlana or Giselle. But you can call me Melissa.”
Also, your alarms are going to have a new sound specifically her saying, “Hey, remember when you said to set that alarm for you? Um — this is the alarm going off. So, you’ve been alarmed.”
