Gina Torres has become the latest victim of the celebrity-targeted burglaries in Los Angeles.
The actress, best known for her portrayal of Jessica Pearson in the legal drama series "Suits," recently had her home ransacked by thieves. The incident marks a continuation of the crimes against A-listers in the area.
Besides Gina Torres, famous stars and athletes have lost thousands of dollars to burglars. The list includes Brad Pitt, professional baseball player Yasiel Puig, Nicole Kidman, and Keith Urban.
Gina Torres Loses Over $200K To Home Invaders

According to new reports, Torres's Los Angeles home was ransacked in her absence by two men on Friday, January 30. The Los Angeles Police revealed that a concerned neighbor reported the crime at 7:10 p.m. after spotting the men leaving the actress's house.
The neighbor allegedly saw them escaping with bags filled with stolen goods, which they loaded into a white sedan before running off into the night. By the time authorities arrived, the home invaders were long gone, with $225,000 worth of jewelry and cash.
The New York Post noted that officers confirmed Torres' home had been broken into, conducted a search of the property, and took a burglary report. The investigation remains ongoing, and the thieves were still at large as of Monday evening.
A Security Expert Reveals The Cunning Way Celebrity Homes Are Burglarized

Last July, the outlet spoke to a security expert about the rampant celebrity-targeted burglaries in Los Angeles. Kris Herzog, owner of the Bodyguard Group of Beverly Hills, revealed that A-listers could no longer depend on cameras and alarm systems for protection.
"They use signal jammers, which you can buy for a few thousand dollars. It jams the signal to your cameras, your alarm, your mobile phone," Herzog said about the burglars' tactics. He noted that after deactivating the property's security, the invaders would pretend to be employees.
Herzog claimed that they would dress up as gardeners and arrive before or after the real gardeners. Thanks to their disguises, these cunning thieves could easily break into any A-lister's home without raising suspicion and leave with leaf-blower bags stuffed with valuables.
Why Public Figures Were Preferred Targets

According to sources, these burglars and gangs could easily target celebrities thanks to the public nature of their careers. Once these stars revealed they were out of town, the home invaders would strike, while some allegedly surveyed the target's home with drones.
Stars like baseball player Yasiel Puig reportedly had his house robbed four times over 10 months. Two of these robberies occurred while he was playing at Dodger Stadium. In June 2025, Brad Pitt's home was ransacked in his absence, months after Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban suffered a similar experience.
The list of celebrity victims continued with Marlon Wayans' home getting burglarized in July 2024 while his brother was asleep. In 2023, Beyoncé's mother, Tina Knowles, lost $1 million in cash and jewelry after thieves broke into her Hollywood Hills home and stole her safe.
Los Angeles Law Enforcement Agencies Made A Breakthrough In The Burglary Case

As celebrities and regular folks in Los Angeles were getting burglarized left and right, the law enforcement agencies in the area teamed up to catch one of the suspected crews. The Associated Press covered the story last August, reporting that 10 suspects were caught.
According to authorities, these suspects were all repeat offenders and confirmed gang members. Their crew was believed to be linked to at least 92 residential burglaries dating back to 2022, with most of these incidents occurring in 2024 and 2025.
Multiple police agencies and the L.A. County sheriff's deputies first arrested two men connected to the burglary crew. Then seven men were taken into custody after police searched eight homes. Days later, another man surrendered following an active warrant for his arrest.
Gina Torres Reflected On Her Rise To Fame And Ethnic Ambiguity

Before Torres became the latest victim of the L.A. burglaries, she had reflected on her career and how challenging it was to find her place in Hollywood. During a 2025 conversation on Yahoo's Unapologetically series, the actress confessed that her younger self would be surprised by her success.
Torres explained that when she first started acting, she struggled with ethnic ambiguity. As an Afro Latina actress, she could not find roles that matched her truth and was forced to "fit into places that were not historically meant" for her. But everything changed in her 30s.
"I was just like, 'Y'all can all go to hell,'" Torres recalled. She finally got her big break on "Suits," playing Jessica Pearson so well that it earned her a short-lived spin-off based on the character. The achievement made Torres the first Afro Latina to create, produce, and star in her own show.
