Negative reviews and poor box office numbers for "Mercy" have reportedly left Chris Pratt worried about his career in Hollywood.

The movie earned only low two-digit millions in its opening week, and about half of that in its second weekend.

Given its poor ratings, it is being predicted that the Chris Pratt-led film is unlikely to recoup its reported $60 million budget during its box office run.

According to the Daily Mail, Pratt is currently in full panic mode over his Hollywood career as his latest movie, "Mercy," continues to garner negative reviews and a poor box office run since it hit the cinemas this month.

"Chris is panicking. Full stop," one insider told the news outlet about the 46-year-old star. "This is the first time he's really feeling his age in Hollywood—and it's shaken him."

Prior to "Mercy," Pratt had starred in a number of blockbuster franchises that were fully expected to perform well. Now, without that backing, he has come to realize that he might not be as invincible as he once thought.

"He always thought he had another decade of bulletproof stardom," another source shared about Pratt's dilemma. "Now he's looking around and realizing the parts aren't coming like they used to."

The situation, according to a third source, has led the actor to become "obsessed with box office numbers and Rotten Tomatoes scores."

"That's classic midlife crisis behavior in this town," the source further remarked about the actor.

Pratt's dilemma first emerged last week in a report from journalist Rob Shuter's #ShutterScoop, just after "Mercy" had been in cinemas for only a few days.

At the time, a source claimed that Pratt was in disbelief over the film's underperformance and was "spiraling."

"Chris genuinely didn't see this coming," the insider said about the movie's box office projections and mixed reviews.

They added, "He believed his name alone could open a movie. Now? He's spiraling."

Other sources also shared similar sentiments, saying Pratt was grappling with the possibility that, outside of his blockbuster franchises, he might just be an ordinary actor who could be replaced in an instant.

"The franchises protected him," one insider shared. "Without them, he's exposed. The everyman charm may be gone."

"This is the first time Chris feels… replaceable, and it's terrifying," another source said.

'Mercy' May Fail To Recoup Its Budget In Cinema

In its first week in cinemas, Mercy earned approximately $11.2 million domestically during its opening weekend, according to Deadline.

While the figure was enough to place the film in the top five during its debut week, it dropped out of the rankings the following week amid stiff competition from Sam Raimi's "Send Help" and YouTuber Markiplier's "Iron Lung."

According to Collider, the film earned just around $5 million in its second weekend, which sits at less than half of its opening haul.

This also brought the film's domestic total to just under $20 million after 10 days, despite the star power of Pratt and Rebecca Ferguson, who is known for her appearances in three installments of the. "Mission: Impossible" franchise.

Given its weak performance, the film is now projected to struggle to reach the $30 million mark during its box office run, which may be short-lived after dropping out of the top five so quickly.

As a result, recouping its reported $60 million budget through the cinemas appears unlikely, and with such a scenario looming, it is little surprise that Pratt is reportedly panicking.

Netizens Share Mixed Reviews About Chris Pratt's New Movie

On social media, the reviews for "Mercy" have been a mixture of good and evil.

Some fans had much praise for Pratt's acting and the film's directing, particularly the cinematography and camera work.

"Saw Mercy on premiere night, and I enjoyed the film. It was fun and managed to integrate an AI theme in a dystopian near-future without being preachy. All the hits are hard, and @Bekmambetov directed the shit out of the blending of camera views to make those impacts stick," one said.

Conversely, others criticized the film, citing weak writing as a major flaw.

"Mercy (2026) A really cool concept that just didn't hit the mark. The writing wasn't great, and they tried to give an AI' feelings,' and it just didn't hit right," a user remarked.

One more commented, "MERCY, the awful Chris Pratt-led pro-AI and pro-cop wannabe MINORITY REPORT, is one of the worst screenlife films I've ever seen. We need to go back in time and prevent Timur Bekmambetov from discovering Skype."
