Bella Hadid's Equestrian Ex Lands In Police Trouble Days After Split

Hot off the heels of their split news, Bella Hadid's ex, Adan Banuelos, is on law enforcement's bad behavior list.

The model's ex-boyfriend was arrested on Friday night for a traffic offense in Texas, just a few days after the news of his breakup became public information.

Bella Hadid and Adan Banuelos were together for about two years after they were romantically linked in January 2023 and described as the perfect duo.

The awarded horse-rider was reportedly taken into custody when he was pulled over in Texas by the cops, where it was discovered he was intoxicated in the early hours of Saturday morning. 

However, Banuelos was let go from the Parker County jail after he paid a bond of $386, and no other information has been given on the arrest. As confirmed by TMZ, the Equestrian was arrested a few days after it was confirmed that he and the supermodel were no longer a romantic item.

Mugshots released from the arrest showed a visibly shaken Banuelos, who reportedly seemed to be having trouble moving on from the amicable split.

As shared by HOLA, sources close to the media personality revealed that the split actually happened, very quietly, right after the holiday season.

Since then, Hadid has reportedly tried her hardest to stay positive and distracted from the situation by throwing herself into more work and spending time with her loved ones.

Hadid has, since the breakup, been spotted promoting her new FX series, "The Beauty," while making public appearances and attending events on behalf of her brand, Orebella.

Due to the serious nature of the relationship, the source added that she is still processing the whole thing, and she even took a trip to the Virgin Islands with her girlfriends to decompress and rest.

"She's been really heartbroken and thought Adan was The One. Her girlfriends and her family have been lifting her up in the last few weeks," the insider added.

The 29-year-old has remained one of the highly sought-after models in the game from the moment she debuted years ago, alongside her sister, Gigi Hadid.

When her relationship with Banuelos began, things went smoothly until they both had to come face to face with the hectic nature of Hadid's job, which often required her to travel for days or weeks.

"[It started] when she got busier with work promoting her new series, taking on more campaigns and events with Orebella," the source stated. The Equestrian also had a work commitment that took him away from the business mogul for months, forcing them to cope as long-distance partners.

Aside from this, Hadid and her ex also reportedly had to confront the fact that they had become different people, whether in their opinions on work, partnership, the future, and life in general.

While Banuelos preferred the simple life in Texas, the model craved the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles and New York, especially in relation to the line of work.

Hadid and the 36-year-old first met during a horse show in 2023 after she relocated to Texas, and it was love at first sight for the model, who described seeing him walk in a "gust of fresh air."

As shared by PEOPLE, Banuelos is a professional equestrian from a family with a vast history in horse riding, and the legacy was passed down from his father, Ascencion Banuelos, the first Mexican-American ever inducted into the National Cutting Horse Association Hall of Fame.

Hadid had revealed in her interview with British Vogue that they bonded over their love and admiration for horses, and she, in particular, had always desired to be with a cowboy.

She had also raved about his accomplishment in horse riding, stating that he is the youngest Mexican cowboy to ever be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Banuelos is a back-to-back champion who defended his 2023 American Performance Horseman title in the cutter division in 2024 and went home with the $100,000 grand prize.

He often praised Hadid's wins at horse riding on his Instagram, like when she was announced as the Horse Association's (NCHA) 2024 Limited Age Event (LAE) Rookie of the Year.

Months leading to their split, Hadid took a break from her low-key lifestyle to share a candid post on her Instagram, bordering on mental health struggles and her battle with depression.

As stated by The Blast, the model admitted that she had carried the weight of anxiety and depression within her for years while she remained immersed in her work, but was paralyzed inside. Hadid confessed that she often wondered why her mind was so heavy when the world around felt so free.

"Over the years, I've learned that this is not a weakness - It's a part of me. My sensitivity, my awareness, my empathy. In many ways, it can be a superpower," the model added, emphasizing that she now understands herself in ways like never before.

Hadid wrapped her post with a message that everyone deserved to find a way around their pain and experience true relief, which was why she teamed up with the UNICEF Trick-or-Treat campaign to help mental health warriors find their true home.

She also attached numbers to the National Mental Health Hotline and other suicide prevention help lines, assuring fans that they were worthy of love and help.
