News is still buzzing over Addison Rae’s red carpet “reporting” at the Connor McGregor, Dustin Poirier UFC fight on Saturday, July 10.
In case you haven’t caught up on why the Internet is outraged, let The Blast fill you in!
On July 10, McGregor and Poirier fought it out for one round that lasted about five minutes with Poirier claiming the victory and McGregor snapping his leg.
Addison was, of course, in attendance and even did some pre-show coverage for the UFC.
She posted a picture to Twitter and captioned it, “I studied broadcast journalism for 3 whole months to prepare for this moment.”

This led to IMMEDIATE backlash and negative publicity for the UFC.
Addison took to Twitter again to tell fans she was fired from her role at the UFC.

Fellow social media star, Ryland Adams, is lending his two cents to the controversy.
During his latest episode of ‘The Sip’ podcast with co-host Lizzie Gordon, Ryland sheds some
The fiancé of Shane Dawson starts out by recalling his path to becoming a broadcast journalist/entertainment reporter.
Prior to social media fame, Ryland worked as a host at Clevver News; however, he never studied broadcast journalism.
He initially came out to Los Angeles to become an actor, “unsuccessfully,” and transitioned into entertainment news.
“When I got the job at Clevver, I was the only person who didn’t have a broadcast journalism degree, but I don’t think that made me less qualified for the job, because I had spend three years learning how to do it,” Ryland said.
He continued his defense, “So, just because someone doesn’t have a broadcast journalism degree doesn’t mean they didn’t set themselves up to be in the position they’re at,” he continued. “Addison Rae is a hot young girl who has a large following and they were like, ‘Let’s hire her for this it’s going to get attention.’”
Lizzie noted that there are a ton of routes in to “the biz.”
Despite his defense earlier, Ryland admitted, “Yeah, she’s obviously probably not the most qualified for the job, but it doesn’t matter because she’s like a very pretty, young girl. They got what they wanted from her in the position that they hired her for, in I believe a one-off gig.”
The co-hosts proceeded to take a few jabs at Addison’s talent saying she didn’t book her “He’s All That” role because she can act.
“You didn’t just get that audition and that producer session based off of your merit and your talent, because honestly I’ve seen enough to know that it’s not a real thing,” Lizzie noted.
Keeping things positive, Ryland said, “You can go the traditional route or you can go a different route and that’s more of a gamble, but it’s sometimes more of a payoff and that’s just like lets root other people on, there’s room for everyone.”
