Ghislaine Maxwell has made a startling claim regarding alleged accomplices of Jeffrey Epstein as part of her ongoing efforts to overturn her conviction.

The former socialite, who was the right-hand woman of the late sex offender, is currently serving a 20-year sentence for her role in the scheme to sexually exploit and abuse multiple minor girls.

Maxwell has repeatedly tried to overturn her conviction in the past but has been unsuccessful. Her latest attempt comes after she claimed that substantial new evidence has emerged showing that she did not receive a fair trial.

In court papers filed in December, Maxwell alleged that several accomplices of Epstein made deals with lawyers representing some of the late sex offender's victims after his abuse allegations emerged.

Although she did not mention any names, Maxwell claimed that the number of individuals involved was at least 25, and that they "could equally be considered as co-conspirators," just as she has been labeled by the court.

In the same documents, Maxwell further alleged the existence of four Epstein employees who were named in the sex-trafficking indictment that led to his arrest in 2019.

"None of these men have been prosecuted, and none has been revealed to [Maxwell]; she would have called them as witnesses had she known," Maxwell said on the matter, per the New York Post.

She then stated that the fact these individuals were not prosecuted but instead reached deals, along with her earlier claims of a biased jury, proves that she was not tried fairly.

"If the jury had heard of the new evidence of the collusion between the plaintiff's lawyers and the government to conceal evidence and the prosecutorial misconduct, they would not have convicted," the 63-year-old disgraced British socialite also noted.

For now, Maxwell and Epstein are the only individuals who have been criminally charged in the late sex offender's sex-trafficking network.

Epstein was arrested in July 2019 on federal charges related to the sex trafficking of minors in Florida and New York, but later died by suicide in his jail cell.

Meanwhile, Maxwell was arrested and charged the following year and was convicted on most of the charges against her in 2021.

She was ultimately sentenced to 20 years in prison for her role in the Epstein scandal and has repeatedly attempted to appeal her conviction.

However, all of her prior appeals have been rejected, and in October, the U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear her case.

The DOJ Is Working Round The Clock To Review The Jeffrey Epstein Files

In the coming days, more alleged accomplices may be unmasked following the enactment of the Epstein Files Transparency Act in November.

According to a letter sent earlier this month to two federal judges, the Department of Justice said it has made "substantial progress" in reviewing millions of files connected to the notorious pedophile.

The DOJ further noted that the review process involves redacting sensitive information, such as victims' names, to protect privacy. It also stated that hundreds of lawyers have been assigned to work around the clock to speed up the process ahead of the full release of the files.

"Due to the scope of this effort, platform operations require around-the-clock attention and technical assistance to resolve inevitable glitches due to the sheer volume of materials," read the letter, per CBS News.

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanch also spoke about the release of the Epstein files in a statement in December, emphasizing the volume of the files in need of review.

"It truly is an all-hands-on-deck approach, and we're asking as many lawyers as possible to commit their time to review the documents that remain," he said at the time.

Blanch added, "Required redactions to protect victims take time, but they will not stop these materials from being released."

Ghislaine Maxwell Is Set To Appear Before The House Oversight Committee

Given the lengthy process of reviewing the files, it remains unclear when they will be fully released to the public.

In the meantime, the public may hear never-before-disclosed information about the Epstein saga when Maxwell appears before the House Oversight Committee on February 9.

However, for now, Maxwell's cooperation during the proposed deposition remains tentative. She has requested clemency before testifying, and if it is not granted, she has indicated she would rather invoke her Fifth Amendment right to avoid jeopardizing her ongoing legal proceedings.

"If the Committee proceeds now, Ms. Maxwell will invoke her privilege against self-incrimination and decline to answer questions," Maxwell's attorney, David Oscar Markus, wrote in a letter to the committee chairman, Rep James Comer.

"Testimony under oath while a habeas petition is pending would risk irreparable prejudice to her constitutional claims and expose her to further criminal jeopardy," he added.
