Sydney Sweeney has finally addressed being named her "MAGA Barbie" by the internet amid speculations about her party affiliation.
Late last year, it was reported that the "Euphoria" star is a registered Republican, with President Donald Trump even alluding to it.
The focus on Sydney Sweeney's political leanings was due to her controversial ad for American Eagle jeans, which some alleged supported white supremacist rhetoric.
Sydney Sweeney Reacts To 'MAGA Barbie' Narrative

Sydney Sweeney has finally spoken up about her political views after being branded "MAGA Barbie" by fans across social media.
The "White Lotus" actress appeared on the cover of Cosmopolitan in a bid to support the launch of her lingerie line, SYRN.
During a chat with the publication, Sweeney was asked about how she feels about being linked to the Republican Party despite never explicitly sharing her political views.
"There is a charged nickname that has stuck to you on social media: 'MAGA Barbie.' I see it in Instagram comments constantly," the interviewer noted. "How do you understand this label, given that you've been private about your politics?"
"I've never been here to talk about politics. I've always been here to make art, so this is just not a conversation I want to be at the forefront of," Sweeney said. "And I think because of that, people want to take it even further and use me as their own pawn."
She continued, "But it's somebody else assigning something to me, and I can't control that."
The Actress Says She's Not A 'Hateful Person'
Sydney Sweeney knows you’re going to have a lot to say about this.

Sweeney is not known to always speak out on issues bothering her and can go months without attempting to clarify several fan-generated speculations about her.
Elsewhere in her chat with the news outlet, she was asked why it was so, and she noted that attempting to clarify assumptions doesn't change anything.
"I haven't figured it out. I'm not a hateful person. If I say, 'That's not true,' they'll come at me like, 'You're just saying that to look better.' There's no winning. There's never any winning," she said.
She added, "I just have to continue being who I am, because I know who I am. I can't make everyone love me. I know what I stand for."
Sydney Sweeney Admits She's Not Here To 'Speak On Politics'

Sweeney went further to reiterate that she is "not a political person."
"I'm in the arts. I'm not here to speak on politics. That's not an area I've ever even imagined getting into. It's not why I became who I am," she said.
Sweeney added, "I became an actor because I like to tell stories, but I don't believe in hate in any form. I believe we should all love each other and have respect and understanding for one another."
The actress's remarks about politics and the "MAGA Barbie" label seemingly divided her fans, with some praising her for speaking out and others asking for more clarity.
A person asked, "This is all well and good, but she still moved to Florida and registered as an f-ing Republican in 2024.....WELL, post the GOP turning MAGA. If she wants to not be associated with them maybe the first thing would be to actually openly say she's not MAGA or Republican?"
On the other hand, someone else noted, "Such a good article. Mad respect for her. It's exhausting how people now expect celebrities to be spokespersons of every cause under the sun. I'm glad she's here for the arts and arts alone."
Donald Trump Praised The Actress For Being A 'Republican'

It comes after rumors surfaced last year suggesting Sweeney was more MAGA-leaning than she'd like to admit.
Buzzfeed News claimed that she has been registered with the Republican Party of Florida since June 2024.
At the time, she was also knee-deep in controversy after her American Eagle jean ad left a sour taste in the mouths of many following a pun on "genes/jeans."
Upon learning of her politics, President Trump lent his voice to support the actress as she faced backlash at the time.
"She's a registered Republican?" the president said. "Oh, now I love her ad."
"Is that right? Is Sydney Sweeney..." Trump added. "You'd be surprised how many people are Republicans. That's one I wouldn't have known, but I'm glad you told me that."
Sydney Sweeney May Have Landed In Legal Trouble Over Hollywood Sign Stunt

Meanwhile, the 28-year-old actress may have just landed in trouble with authorities for a recent publicity stunt.
According to TMZ, Sweeney pulled a promotional stunt by climbing up a portion of the Hollywood sign outside L.A. and decorating it with bras strung together in a bid to promote her new lingerie line.
However, Steve Nissen, president and CEO of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, the company that owns the intellectual property rights of the Hollywood Sign, said the organization "did not grant a license or permission of any kind to the production involving Sydney Sweeney as reported by TMZ, nor did anyone seek a license or permission from the Chamber for that production."
He went on to share that Sweeney's effort "was not authorized by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce nor did we have prior knowledge of it."
"Anyone intending to use and/or access the Hollywood Sign for commercial purposes must obtain a license or permission from the Hollywood Chamber to do so," Nissen added.
