A Russian man has been convicted in London after an assault on his girlfriend was reported to police by Barron Trump, who witnessed part of the incident during a video call from the United States.
The case drew attention after the son of President Donald Trump contacted authorities, prompting a swift response that led to an arrest.
The trial later examined what Barron Trump saw during the call, his role in alerting police, and the events that unfolded in the early hours of January 18, 2025.
Russian Man Convicted In London Following Barron Trump's Video Call Alert

Matvei Rumiantsev, 22, a Russian man, was convicted on Wednesday after a jury heard evidence that he became violent following jealousy over his girlfriend's online connection with Barron, the 19-year-old son of President Donald Trump.
The court was told that Barron placed a late-night FaceTime call to the woman and was alarmed when a shirtless man briefly appeared on the screen before the camera "was then flipped to the victim getting hit while crying, stating something in Russian."
Barron immediately contacted London police, urging them to act. "She's getting beat up," he told the dispatcher, who guided him to provide specific details so officers could respond, according to Fox News.
Police arrived at the London residence on January 18, 2025, and arrested Rumiantsev, who works as a receptionist.

At Snaresbrook Crown Court, Rumiantsev was acquitted of rape and choking charges related to the same night, as well as a separate allegation from November 2024.
However, the jury found him guilty of assault and perverting the course of justice after evidence showed he sent a letter from jail pressuring the woman to withdraw her accusations.
Rumiantsev claimed he was jealous of Barron but also felt sympathy for him, insisting his girlfriend had misled him.
His defense attorney, Sasha Wass, questioned how much Barron could have truly observed in just a few seconds of video and highlighted that Barron did not testify or face cross-examination.
Justice Bennathan advised jurors to consider Barron's statements cautiously, noting it was unclear whether he "actually saw the assault or whether he jumped to that conclusion based on her screams."
Barron Trump Details Video Call With Woman He's 'Very Close With' In Email To Police Ahead Of Sentencing

The court heard that Barron later emailed Metropolitan Police investigators, relaying what the woman had told him about experiencing ongoing difficulties with Rumiantsev.
He recounted in an email, "I was told by the victim, who I am very close with, that this individual was giving her difficulty for a long time," adding that what he saw during the video call was "very brief indeed but indeed prevalent."
According to The Guardian, in his email, Barron also clarified that he had initiated the video call in the early hours of January 18, despite earlier implying during the emergency call that the woman had contacted him.
The 19-year-old explained that he hadn't expected her to answer because of the time difference.
After witnessing the alleged assault, Barron, in addition to calling the police himself, asked two friends in the United States to also contact authorities to ensure a response. Rumiantsev is due to be sentenced on March 27.
Mar-a-Lago Tightens Privacy Rules After Barron Trump's Rare Public Appearance

Meanwhile, Mar-a-Lago reportedly moved quickly to enforce strict privacy measures following Barron's rare public appearance at the club over Christmas.
According to sources, several members who were seen taking photos of the 19-year-old as he walked through the dining area alongside his father, President Donald Trump, were warned that their memberships could be terminated.
"Melania made it very clear that Barron's privacy is non-negotiable," one source said, per reports. "Anyone caught filming or taking pictures would face immediate consequences, including potential banning from the club."
Barron has largely stayed out of the public eye throughout 2025, particularly after stepping away from NYU's main campus in New York.
His limited appearances have made any unauthorized images especially sensitive.
Officials Ensure No Pictures Of The President's Youngest Child Get Taken At The Club

One insider described the moment that caused the recent strict Mar-a-Lago rules, saying, "Barron was solemnly following his father through the dining room. He was quiet, very reserved, wearing his usual blue suit, almost mirroring Donald."
Club officials acted swiftly to prevent further incidents, making it clear to members that filming or photographing the Trump family would not be tolerated.
"The message was clear: no cameras, no leaks. Private family moments stay private," another source explained.
Those present noted that Barron stayed close to his father throughout the evening and remained largely silent. "He didn't smile or interact much," an observer said.
