Jeannie Mai Recalls Divorce Phase With Ex-Husband Jeezy, Describing It As The ‘Greatest Pain’

“The Real” host recently got candid while revisiting her separation from the Boyz N Da Hood member, explaining how overwhelming the period was.

"Divorce is heartbreaking, no matter what," Mai told host Danielle Robay on the Jan. 29 episode of “Question Everything” podcast. "It's one of the greatest pains that any human has to endure, honestly," Mai added before offering a rare comparison.

"Divorce is just-it's experiencing death alive," Mai explained, adding that it “does this inhumane thing that forces you to then protect yourself to get what you need from the divorce.”

However, the TV personality is thankful for the timing of the split, as it happened when her daughter Monaco was one, as Mai believed the girl wouldn’t remember the emotional turmoil.

Despite the pain of her ended marriage, Mai made it clear she harbors no regrets. "I'm never gonna regret that I got married because I'm so thankful to have experienced love in so many different ways," the “How Do I Look” host admitted, per E! Online.

She added that her current focus is on defining what healthy love looks like, starting with herself. As for walking down the aisle again, Mai isn't ruling it out.

"I actually would because I really don't wanna ever put a block on myself," she explained. "You can never put a container around love. You can never say, like, 'Oh, I'm only going to find love,' if I'm saying I'm never gonna get married again."

Mai has also been open about the changes that followed her divorce, particularly when it comes to co-parenting. Last July, she reflected on the journey while sharing vacation photos on Instagram.

She revealed that when Monaco is with her father, she uses the time apart for self-reflection.

"It's harder than I ever imagined -loving her so much, but loving her from far away. There is no guidebook for this part of motherhood," she wrote, according to The Blast.

Mai, however, acknowledged it as part of the parenting journey. She emphasized the importance of self-love, explaining that nurturing herself allows her to give Monaco the fullest love in return.

As Mai adjusts to her new normal, tensions between her and Jeezy have continued. In March 2025, The Blast reported that the rapper filed a motion requesting $20,000 in legal fees, claiming Mai's actions led to unnecessary expenses.

The filing came shortly after Mai accused him of being in contempt of their divorce agreement.

Jeezy denied the contempt claims and challenged Jeannie's lease agreements tied to rent reimbursements, arguing they could not be verified. He also sought access to her banking records through a subpoena, a move Jeannie pushed back against.

Per The Blast, Mai also previously called the police on her ex-husband after being denied access to Jeezy's home while attempting to retrieve her personal belongings.

Her legal team maintained she had no intention of violating his privacy, and the incident was documented by the Atlanta Police Department.
