Super Bowl champion Rob Gronkowski just spilled some tea on his relationship with his former NFL teammate Tom Brady. During his appearance on "Today," Gronk answered a question about which version of Brady he has more fun with—married or single. Gronk also touched on how his relationship with Brady, a seven-time NFL champion, has changed over the years.
Rob Gronkowski Explains Why 'Single' Tom Brady Is Way More Fun Than When He Was 'Married'
Gronk appeared on "Today" on Thursday, January 29, and declared that "single Tom Brady" is "definitely" more fun than "married" Brady.
Gronk shared that while he has more fun with the single version of Brady, the pair has encountered a role reversal these days.
"... we flipped the script," Gronk said. "I was single when I first got into the league and Tom was married."
Gronk explained that when he entered the league in 2010, he thought Brady was a little "lame" because he would rarely go out.
However, the tables have turned. "Wow. Now he’s going out every weekend and I’m at home with my girl," he said.
Tom Brady Was With Ex-Wife For Years Before 2022 Divorce

Brady married supermodel Gisele Bündchen in 2009 after first meeting on a blind date in 2006. Later that year, the couple announced they were expecting their first child together, according to PEOPLE.
At the time, Brady said the top model would be an "excellent mother," adding that she was "ecstatic" about their new chapter.
Brady and Bündchen welcomed their second child in 2012 and eventually faced rumors about their relationship in the years that followed. In 2015, however, Brady said he and Bündchen were in " a great place."
Brady began singing a different tune years later, though, confirming that he had failed to meet his wife's expectations.
"A couple of years ago, she didn't feel like I was doing my part for the family. She felt like I would play football all season and she would take care of the house, and then all of a sudden when the season ended, I'd be like, 'Great, let me get into all of my other business activities. Let me get into my football training,' and she's sitting there going, 'Well when are you going to do things for the house? When are you going to take the kids to school and do that?'" Brady said on an episode of "Howard Stern," according to PEOPLE.
The pair divorced in 2022.
Gronk's Comments Follow Reports That Tom Brady Has Been Texting Alix Earle

Gronk's statement about Brady comes amid headlines about the quarterback's reported relationship with influencer Alix Earle. According to The Blast, Brady sent social media users into a frenzy when videos of the pair partying together on New Year's surfaced online.
"They met through mutual friends who were also in St. Barths and had an instant connection," an insider said about the two stars. "There was a lot of chemistry between them."
Later, another source claimed Brady and Earle had been communicating consistently since the holiday and even met up during the College Football Playoff Championship game on January 19, 2026.
While it's unclear whether the two will become an official couple, Brady hinted at his schedule being a bit too chaotic for new connections at the moment, per The Blast. "You know what? I don't have much time for a personal life or much time for myself, but I love working, and I love my kids," Brady said.
"I like to be busy and try to really stay fulfilled in the things I'm doing, so I'm working on some really cool projects, and I'm involved with some great teams of people that are doing some really positive things," he added.
Gronk Has Spoken About Teammates Before

This isn't the first time Gronk has spoken about his former teammates, according to The Blast.
During an appearance on the "Bussin' With The Boys" podcast, Gronk opened up about his dynamic with Aaron Hernandez, the former New England Patriots standout who later died by suicide.
“We were the best combination at the tight end position of all time,” he said. “And that second year proves it. I mean we had like what—2,300 yards combined and like [24] touchdowns between just him and I, including playoffs and regular season. That's unheard of.”
Gronk Alludes To Bizarre Behavior From Hernandez

Elsewhere in the episode, Gronk addressed a long-running rumor regarding Hernandez allegedly pleasuring himself during team meetings.
“That’s a possibility, that one,” Gronk said. “I may or may not have seen it live. I’m not going to confirm or deny."
He continued, “I mean, I love crazy sh-t though, so I didn’t mind things like that. I was like, ‘Wow, that was pretty epic.’ I was a wild man myself, so nothing fazed me.”
