Khloé Kardashian recently opened up about why she is still single, and it has more to do with her past partners than herself.
The reality TV star got candid about suffering from a rare dating phobia, a revelation that had one psychologist eager to help.
Khloé Kardashian was married to former NBA star Lamar Odom from 2009 to 2013. She moved on with another basketball player, Tristan Thompson; however, both relationships ended due to infidelity.
Khloé Kardashian Claims She Has Sarmassophobia

During a recent episode of her "Khloé In Wonder Land "podcast, the host revealed her rare dating phobia while speaking to her older sister, Kim Kardashian. She claimed she had sarmassophobia, an intense fear of dating, love, or romantic intimacy.
Khloé explained that she felt safer alone as she hated how she felt during her past relationships. "Now I feel like I've gone so long now. It's like so scary to get back in there," she told Kim. "I don't want to go back there," she declared, adding:
"But I can't live like this forever. Like I'm afraid that I'm so afraid. Does that make sense?"
When Kim suggested she try therapy, Khloé agreed that she might need a therapist to overcome her fear of dating. Beverly Hills psychologist Dr Levine was more than happy to help, telling The Daily Mail all about sarmassophobia and what Khloé could do to overcome it.

Levine explained that Khloé's fear of dating after two relationships that ended due to infidelity wasn't uncommon. "Having a fear of dating after being hurt many times in the past is quite normal," he explained, noting Khloé needed time to heal.
According to the psychologist, those who have experienced multiple heartbreaks avoid dating and would rather focus on their career, children, or both than risk another heartbreak. On that note, Levine shared some tips to help Khloé.
He advised the reality TV star to try Exposure Therapy, describing it as a slow-and-steady method to reintroduce dating into Khloé's life. He explained that she could achieve this by "maybe going on practice dates that are during the day."

Another method to help Khloé overcome her fear of dating was Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Levine labeled CBT the best form of therapy when looking at the root causes of fear. He noted the treatment would help Khloé address the real cause of her sarmassophobia.
"She can ask herself what really holds her back. Is it the fear of being cheated on? The fear of being rejected? The fear of being vulnerable?" Levine explained. He stressed that Khloé's healing journey won't be easy; nonetheless, it was worth it.
Nearly four years before Khloé revealed her rare dating phobia, she opened up about her social anxiety. PEOPLE reported in 2022 that she shared her worries during an episode of her family's reality TV series, "The Kardashians."

During the 2022 episode, Khloé was preparing for an appearance on "The Late Late Show With James Corden." She was joined by her best friend, Malika Haqq, whom she told about the crippling anxiety she experienced whenever she had to be in public.
Khloé confessed that she once felt like she was "having a heart attack" after running into the paparazzi. She explained that the constant ridicule from the public had done a number on her mental health, making her believe it was safer to stay at home and off social media.
"It's never the interview, it's more the aftermath. I have to listen to everybody say this, or judge you, or overanalyze something you say, or pick this apart," Khloé shared. She noted that there was a time when the publicity was "fun," but in recent years, it had been easier said than done to ignore the haters.
Khloé Kardashian Says There's No Space For Men In Her Bedroom

Earlier this month, The Blast reported that Khloé had declared there was no space for men in her bedroom. She noted that her son, Tatum, was the only male allowed in her bed, a sentiment she echoed in a 2025 interview.
At the time, Khloé admitted that she had been celibate for years. She claimed that the hope of being intimate again someday pushed her to work harder at the gym. Despite using another relationship as her workout motivation, Khloé's heart seemed closed to love.
During an episode of her family's reality TV series, Khloé declared that she would rather focus on her career and kids than let another man into her life. The statement sparked mixed reactions from her older sisters; Kourtney applauded Khloé's stance, while Kim urged her to reconsider.
