Serena Williams is offering fans a glimpse into her life post-retirement. The tennis legend appeared on NBC’s "Today" for an interview on Wednesday morning. Their discussion covered family milestones, her upcoming Super Bowl commercial, and her legendary tennis achievements.
Things shifted, however, when host Savannah Guthrie raised the possibility of a potential return to professional tennis for Williams.
After Guthrie noted that Williams had recently re-entered the International Tennis Integrity Agency’s drug-testing pool, the former world No. 1 laughed off the speculation and instead emphasized her role as a full-time mother.
Serena Williams Refused To Give A ‘Yes-Or-No’ Answer On A Possible Comeback

Williams appeared caught off guard when Guthrie raised the possibility of a comeback. She declined to offer a straight answer, suggesting instead that her focus is elsewhere for now.
“I’m just having fun and enjoying my life,” she said, later adding, “I’m just going to see what happens.”
The 23-time Grand Slam champion also pointed to her current responsibilities, explaining that motherhood is now her priority.
“Listen, I have two kids,” Williams said. “I am a full-time, stay-at-home mom. When I filled out the form the other day, occupation: housewife!”
Pressed again about re-entering the testing pool, Williams shut down further discussion on the subject, saying, “Listen, I can’t discuss this.”
Serena Williams Spoke About How Becoming A Mom Made Health Goals More Challenging

Beyond a potential return to tennis, Williams also spoke about her new GLP-1 Super Bowl commercial with Ro, stressing that the health benefits she has experienced extend way beyond weight loss.
“It was important to continue talking about my journey,” Williams said. “Not only weight loss, but all the other health benefits that I’m feeling and experiencing.”
The Olympic gold medalist explained that reaching certain health goals became increasingly difficult later in her career, especially after becoming a mother.
“It was like for me, everything I tried just didn’t really work,” Williams recalled. “Especially after I became a mom, it became really difficult for me to reach my goals and the things I wanted to do.”
She explained that recent health tests had shown significant improvements, however.
“I just did some testing on my numbers, and my numbers came back that my cholesterol [levels] have been lowered by 30%,” she said.

During the interview, Guthrie also referenced a recent Instagram video of Williams playing tennis on a court with her two daughters, Olympia and Adira.
Asked about the possibility of the girls following in her footsteps, the retired champion explained neither has shown a clear interest in the sport so far.
“The oldest one, Olympia, she’s eight. She doesn’t love it,” Williams explained. “Adira, she’s too young. She’s just two, so a little bit too young to kinda understand what she even likes.”
Serena Williams Also Shared Fun Moments From Her Sister Venus’s Wedding

Williams also touched on a major family milestone during her “Today” interview. Her sister, Venus, recently got married to actor and model Andrea Preti in a multi-event celebration.
According to People, the couple first tied the knot in a private ceremony on September 18, 2025, in Ischia, Italy, before holding a second official wedding in Palm Beach, Florida, on December 19.
Serena remarked that Venus had made a beautiful bride, with 20 different outfits handy for her big day. “She was serving looks!” the younger sister said.

Williams also shared details from the bridal shower she hosted for her sister’s wedding. At the party, Serena explained that Venus had suggested an activity where different groups of four would compete in a lip-sync battle featuring Beyoncé’s songs.
Serena’s team performed “Sorry,” whose official music video Williams had actually appeared in. She even wore the same outfit from the shoot, although she forgot to wear the bedazzled stockings. Sadly for her, their team could only muster a last-place finish.
“I had the look,” Williams said. “Anyway, we came in last. We did terrible!”
