Poor ticket sales for Melania Trump's documentary have reportedly led to a rescue effort by the GOP.

Reports claim that multiple clubs, affiliated with the party to which the first lady's husband, Donald Trump, belongs, have been buying out theater seats in an effort to mask the film's struggles.

Still, the ticket-buying issue appears difficult to escape, as many people are reportedly uninterested in attending Melania Trump's event even when tickets are offered for free.

'Melania' Ticket Sales Falter Months After Premiere Announcement: 'This Isn't Organic Demand'

When Melania announced the release date of her documentary last year, she was likely hoping for a huge turnout from audiences eager to hear her give her own side of the events leading up to President Trump's inauguration.

However, the story now seems to have taken a different turn, with interest in the project appearing far more muted than expected.

Despite the ample time since the announcement, ticket sales for "Melania" have reportedly struggled in theaters where it will be shown later this month.

This has allegedly forced Republican clubs across several conservative-leaning areas to quietly begin buying out screenings in a bid to save face for the former model and, by extension, President Trump.

"This isn't organic demand," one insider told Rob Shuter's #ShuterScoop. "It's about optics. Empty theaters look terrible."

The GOP Is Reportedly Struggling To Give 'Melania' Tickets Away

As reported by some of the sources, the clubs are going all out in this strategy, with some buying out large blocks of seats or sometimes entire showings.

These tickets are then offered for free or at steep discounts to members and guests. Also, some are being distributed through GOP-affiliated websites, seemingly to ensure they get into the hands of individuals who lean toward the Trumps.

Despite all of this, interest remains low, with few people said to be picking up the tickets. Adding to the plight, requests in some locations for attendees' personal details before they can reserve a seat have also turned some people off.

"They're struggling to give the tickets away," an insider revealed. "Some screenings barely sell unless the party steps in."

One more insider shared, "It feels less like a movie night and more like a loyalty check."

The Documentary Is Having Poor Sales In The UK

In the UK, ticket sales have also been poor across the more than 100 cinemas where the documentary is set to be shown.

This comes after Amazon MGM Studios, which purchased the rights to the project, reportedly spent $35 million marketing the film globally.

Unsurprisingly, the poor sales led to intense trolling from several UK netizens, who took to X on January 27 to share updates.

"I'M LAUGHING SO LOUD I SCARED MY DOG, AND I ALMOST PISSED MY PANTS. THEY SPENT OVER 35 MILLION DOLLARS ON MARKETING THE MELANIA TRUMP MOVIE IN ENGLAND, AND IT RESULTED IN ONE TICKET SOLD ONE F-CKING TICKET," one user wrote.

"Who bought the ticket? It may be a collector's item," another user responded.

A third commented, "Just checked our local cinema and not 1 sold either. Put on the smallest cinema room too, with only 44 seats."

One more person added, "I've just checked myself. There's just the odd one seat, and on another day, two seats, oh my God, how bad is this?"

Melania Remains Hyped About Her Project

Despite the poor sales, Melania's mood appears undampened, as she took to X on January 25 to praise the project following an in-house screening at the White House.

"MELANIA, the film A Historic Moment… I am deeply humbled to have been surrounded by an inspiring room of friends, family, and cultural iconoclasts at the White House last night," she wrote.

The former model added, "Each of these individuals each brought their unique vision to the world, making a lasting impression. Our personal stories endure time and serve as a reminder of our mutual obligation to one another. It was an honor to present my new film, MELANIA, ahead of its global launch."

What Is The Documentary About?

According to a logline for the film, it will chronicle the first 20 days leading up to her husband's inauguration for a second presidential term, but told from the First Lady's perspective.

This will include critical meetings, private conversations, and never-before-seen environments.

The documentary will also show how Melania navigates the complexities of her family's return to the White House.
