Melania Trump's first on-camera interview has got many labeling her pretentious for addressing the controversial ICE shootings.
The First Lady of the United States broke her silence on the issue amid the ongoing promotions for her soon-to-be-released documentary. Naturally, social media users had a field day mocking her reaction.
Melania Trump has served as First Lady of the United States since 2025, a role she once held from 2017 to 2021. She is also the first non-native English speaker to hold the position, thanks to her husband, Donald Trump.
Melania Trump Has A Message For Protesters Following Two Fatal ICE Shootings

Melania had her first on-camera interview since her return to the White House to promote her eponymous documentary. When asked if she had a message for America amid the ongoing debates about ICE's deployment in Minneapolis, Melania called for peace.
"We need to unify. I'm calling for unity. I know my husband, the president, had a great call yesterday with the governor and the mayor, and they're working together to make it peaceful and without riots," Melania told Fox News.
The First Lady then directed her message to protesters, saying, "I'm against the violence. So if, please, if you protest, protest in peace, and we need to unify in these times." After sharing her thoughts, Melania moved on to promote her documentary, a switch critics didn't miss.

Many bashed Melania on X after someone shared a snippet of her interview on the social media platform. The caption noted that she paused her documentary promotions to call for unity while praising her husband's efforts in handling the Minneapolis situation.
"Does she seriously think we're buying this?" the X user wondered. Others echoed similar sentiments, arguing that Melania's response did not seem genuine. "Her 'movie' and her asking for 'unity.' Both hilarious," someone noted. "She doesn't care," another declared.
"I don't think she really cares. I also feel like she was "lecturing" the protestors to be peaceful. They are peaceful. Also, there have not been any riots," a third argued. An X user theorized that Melania only addressed the Minneapolis situation in hopes of boosting her documentary's sales.

A day before Melania's TV interview, her husband showcased his love and support for her eponymous documentary on X. Donald shared a picture of himself and Melania posing together in front of a sign with her name, presumably taken during the White House's private screening of the film.
"MELANIA, the Movie, is a MUST WATCH. Get your tickets today — Selling out, FAST!" The president captioned the post. However, several X users called BS on his story by sharing proof of empty theaters, proving no one was buying tickets to watch the documentary.
Others mocked Melania with memes and AI-generated posters calling her out for allegedly sleeping her way to the top. An X user even declared that they would rather perform a root canal operation by themselves without anesthesia or proper tools than watch Melania's documentary.

Contrary to Donald's claims about his wife's documentary, Forbes reported that tickets for Melania's movie were not selling out fast. "Melania" will open in at least 1,400 theaters nationwide and internationally on Friday, January 30.
However, the public doesn't seem interested in watching the First Lady's rise to the seat. The AMC Lincoln Square has reportedly sold 45 of 122 seats, while the AMC in Times Square has sold 6 of 99 seats. The low interest in New York continued with only 5 of 88 seats sold at the Regal Cinema in Times Square.
According to Puck News, Amazon MGM Studios shelled out $40 million for the rights to the documentary and another $35 million on marketing and distribution. Unfortunately for the studio, it may be in for massive losses as Melania's film is predicted to earn $5 million on the opening weekend.
Georgina RodrĂguez Praises Melania Trump's Documentary

The reports of low ticket sales follow Georgina RodrĂguez's raving review of Melania's documentary. The Blast covered the story, reporting that the longtime partner of Cristiano Ronaldo was among the A-list guests at the private screening held at the White House.
The guest list included Apple's Tim Cook, Lynn Martin of the New York Stock Exchange, and boxing legend Mike Tyson, among other VIPs. RodrĂguez shared her thoughts on the documentary on Instagram, labeling it "impressive" and "inspiring."
"Congratulations for your movie… on the work behind it, and on bringing it to life with such presence and sensitivity," RodrĂguez added. Her words sparked mixed reactions, with some questioning her decision to be associated with the Trumps, while others hyped Melania.
