Katy Perry has joined the calls against ICE and wants fans to do more to stop another Minneapolis tragedy from happening.
The "Dark Horse" hitmaker shared the plea for more action against ICE on her social media platforms, urging people to stand up against the funding of the immigration and customs enforcement officers.
Katy Perry's call for action follows two fatal ICE shootings in Minneapolis. Renee Good was shot by an ICE officer on January 7, while Alex Pretti was shot multiple times and killed by ICE agents on January 24.
Katy Perry Implores Fans To Stop ICE's $10 Billion Funding

Perry updated her social media platforms with an urgent PSA, telling fans they could do more to stop ICE by bombarding their respective senators with calls. She shared six slides detailing her message on Instagram.
The singer's call for action noted that fans had the power in their hands to stop ICE's funding by calling their senators to vote against the upcoming homeland security appropriations bill.
"We have until Friday, January 30, to block $10 billion (on top of the $75B that's already been funded) from going through to ICE," Perry's message read.
The last slide included a script fans could use while speaking to their senators about ICE's funding. Part of it read, "I'm sick of watching lawful citizens and noncitizens being arrested at their jobs, assaulted at peaceful protests, pulled out of their vehicles, blinded by munitions, and getting shot and killed by ICE."

"Turn anger into ACTION," Perry captioned the January 26 update. She echoed similar sentiments on Facebook, dropping the same slides and caption. However, unlike her Instagram post, the comment section was open for fans to share their thoughts.
Perry's words sparked mixed reactions, with supporters and critics clashing. One fan applauded the singer for standing against ICE brutality, noting they adored every celebrity who serves "the good of the species." Another agreed, urging her to remain "on the good side."
On the other hand, critics slammed Perry's stance, with some recalling her controversial Blue Origin's all-female space flight in 2025. Someone claimed she "should've stayed in space," while a fellow critic argued that she had no right to comment after burning jet fuel with her space trip.
ICE Chief Ordered To Appear In Court To Face Detainment Query

The same day Perry dropped her call for action plea, Chief Judge Patrick J. Schiltz called out Donald Trump's administration for failing to comply with orders to hold hearings for detained immigrants. The judge then ordered the head of ICE to appear in court.
According to the order, Judge Schiltz asked Todd Lyons, the acting director of ICE, to personally appear in court by Friday, January 30. He stressed that the court had been more than patient, but ICE continued to detain people without making proper provisions for the legal aftermath.
Judge Schiltz noted that the court had granted a petition on January 14 for someone detained in ICE custody to have a bond hearing in seven days.
However, as of January 23, the petitioner remained detained with ICE making no efforts to honor the bond hearing. Hence, Judge Schiltz's action to hold Lyons accountable, per AP News.
What Donald Trump Has Said About The Double Minneapolis Tragedy

According to the outlet, the Judge's order for Lyons' appearance in court came a day after Trump took action following two ICE killings in Minneapolis. He reportedly ordered border czar Tom Homan to take over the ongoing ICE operations in the state from Border Patrol commander Gregory Bovino.
Trump also revealed that he had been in talks with Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey since the tragic killings. He claimed he had "great calls" with the pair, suggesting they might have reached an understanding about ICE's operations in the state.
The White House previously put the blame on Democratic leaders for the rampant protests against ICE agents. However, their tune changed after the second Minneapolis shooting, as videos showed that Pretti was not an active threat when he was gunned down by ICE agents.

Perry's interests in politics might not be solely due to her patriotism, given her ongoing romance with Canada's former prime minister, Justin Trudeau. Last month, The Blast reported that a source had revealed their New Year plans.
The source claimed Perry and Trudeau would welcome 2026 together, noting that they were "very smitten and into each other." They added that the singer was very proud of her beau and impressed by his various accomplishments.
"He's a great match for her," the source declared. Trudeau seemed to hold Perry in high regard, as he had her by his side while meeting Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and his wife, Yuko. The group took a picture together, posing before a Christmas tree.
