Martha Stewart Forced To Get Political About ICE After 'Sensitive' Nudge: 'I Am Disheartened'

Martha Stewart is speaking up about the recent happenings in the country.

The 84-year-old TV personality shared a heartfelt post on Instagram, noting how she was nudged to condemn the recent killings by federal troops. 

In addition to Stewart, several other high-profile figures have lent their voice to the fight, including A-list stars such as Jennifer Aniston and Ariana Grande.

Martha Stewart Wants Things To Change ‘Quickly’ 

Following the death of ICU nurse Alex Pretti, who was brutally murdered by ICE agents, Martha Stewart shared an excerpt from a text message her 14-year-old granddaughter sent to her. 

The text read, “I’m not sure it’s excusable not to be speaking up right now.” The businesswoman attached a lengthy Instagram caption, noting how even her teenage granddaughter was aware of the happenings in the country. 

“My granddaughter wrote this to me yesterday, she is 14 and sensitive to what is going on in our country as we all should be,” she wrote, before adding:

“I am disheartened and sad each and every day that we cannot demonstrate our sympathy for the beleaguered, that we are told immigrants, which most of us are or descended from are unwelcome, that we cannot show our frustration in peaceful demonstrations and that we can be attacked and even killed by Federal troops.”

Her call to action was a firm stance asking for things to be resolved in the best way possible. “Things must and have to change quickly and peacefully,” she concluded. 

Fans online applauded the TV personality for her stance, with one writing, “Good for your granddaughter and good for you, Martha. Please, say and do more. It makes a difference.”

Another fan noted that Stewart’s granddaughter’s “moral compass” is in the right place, and another sent love to the writer for her views. “We love you for this, Martha!” the fan exclaimed.

Stewart’s statements were prompted by Pretti’s death, which has sparked outrage nationwide. Pretti, who worked at the Minneapolis VA Hospital, was shot and killed during a protest involving federal officers.

Jennifer Aniston Similarly Used Her Platform To Condemn The Killing

Just like Stewart took to social media to speak about the killings, Jennifer Aniston similarly headed to Instagram to shed light on the unfolding situation.

The “Friends” actress reposted a statement Pretti’s parents shared, remembering him as a “kindhearted soul who cared deeply for his family and friends,” per The Blast.

In the statement, the deceased ICU nurse’s parents slammed the narrative from the Department of Homeland Security that suggested their son had a weapon in his hands at the time of the shooting.

Aniston further reposted more slides remembering Pretti and concluded with a post that read, “To anyone who thinks calling your reps doesn't work ... the number to call is 202–224–3121. Call your two U.S. senators and one U.S. representative. One call might not change anything - but many calls absolutely could..."

Joining the long line of A-listers who refused to keep quiet in the face of injustice is Olivia Rodrigo, who took to her Instagram Stories to condemn the actions of the federal agents. 

“ICE's actions are unconscionable, but we are not powerless. Our actions matter. I stand with Minnesota,” the 22-year-old pop star wrote, according to The Blast.

She also shared a series of posts urging her followers to call lawmakers and nudge them into making a change.

Billie Eilish Calls For Her Fellow Celebrities To Speak Up

As Stewart and Aniston stepped into the conversation protesting ICE agents, Billie Eilish similarly spoke up, but went one step further to call out other celebrities for not acknowledging the situation. 

The “Ocean Eyes” singer shared a picture of herself on Instagram and captioned it, “Hey, my fellow celebrities, u gonna speak up? Or…"

According to The Blast, she also shared other posts highlighting the incident that led to Pretti’s demise. 

Similarly, her brother Finneas O’Connell called for accountability. He stressed that, contrary to the narratives being pushed, Pretti did not hold a weapon at the time of his death. 

“This guy was being beaten to a pulp on the ground, but he didn't draw his weapon. He had a weapon on him legally. And they shot the f-ck out of him," he lamented.

Ariana Grande Reshared A Post Slamming ICE

Ariana Grande didn't fail to lend her voice to the fight. A few days ago, she shared a post from Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani that called for the abolition of ICE. 

According to The Blast, the statement slammed ICE for terrorizing cities and putting everyone “in danger.” 

Notably, social media users applauded Grande for her stance and expressed their support for her political activism.
