Finneas did not mince his words while slamming the lack of accountability for Pretti's death in a TikTok post. He called out those who attacked the deceased for attending a protest in Minneapolis on January 24, while carrying a concealed weapon.

The songwriter slammed the gun-rights hypocrisy, noting that the same critics who blamed Pretti for his death were the same people who have spent "30 years straight telling us that children have to die so that we're allowed to legally carry weapons everywhere in the United States."

Finneas stressed that the gun narrative didn't hold in Pretti's case because videos of his death clearly showed that he never drew his weapon. "This guy was being beaten to a pulp on the ground, he didn't draw his weapon. He had a weapon on him legally. And they shot the f-ck out of him," he argued.

The Songwriter Claims His Video Was 'Shadow-Banned'

Finneas continued his anti-ICE narrative on his Instagram Stories, reposting multiple updates about Pretti's death and the outrage towards immigration officers. He also shared the TikTok video, claiming he had to because the platform had "shadow-banned" him.

Eilish shared the same narrative on her IG story, noting her brother's video wasn't reaching the typical number of audience it usually did. Fans echoed similar sentiments in the comment section of Finneas' TikTok post, suspecting there was a conspiracy to silence him.

"It's genuinely scary, the video keeps on lagging and restarting to the beginning halfway through the video, or playing without the image," someone claimed. Another agreed, noting they visited Finneas' page multiple times and didn't find the video until much later. "TIKTOK IS SILENCING PEOPLE!" the user warned.

According to a report by NBC News, Pretti was a 37-year-old intensive care nurse. His family remembered him fondly as a "kind-hearted soul" who cared deeply for his patients at the Veterans Affairs facility where he worked at.

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara noted in a news conference that Pretti was shot just before 9 a.m. after a heated confrontation between ICE agents and anti-ICE protesters. The Department of Homeland Security echoed similar sentiments, claiming Pretti had been hostile.

According to their narrative, Pretti was shot by an ICE agent in self-defense after he violently resisted efforts to disarm him. However, videos from the incident contradicted this narrative. Additionally, The Associated Press reported that the deceased had a permit to carry a concealed weapon in Minnesota.

Pretti's tragic shooting marks the second time an ICE agent has killed someone in Minneapolis. Earlier this month, a woman named Renee Good was fatally shot, an incident Eilish referenced during her acceptance speech at the 2026 MLK Jr. Beloved Community Awards.

The Blast covered the story, reporting that Eilish had received the Environmental Justice Award and used the opportunity to slam Trump's administration and ICE. She noted that it was difficult to celebrate the honor when people were no longer safe in their homes or on the streets.

"It is very clear that protecting our planet and our communities is not a priority for this administration," Eilish added. She vowed to continue using her platform to fight against injustice; however, the Department of Homeland Security slammed her words as "garbage rhetoric."
