Guy Fieri's Drastic Change Isn't Just For Laughs

As reported by The Blast last week, Fieri surprised his followers on social media with a post wherein he looked radically different from his iconic style.

His spiky, bleached hair was gone, and in its place was brown hair neatly combed to the side. Gone was his colorful and edgy wardrobe, and in its place was a long-sleeved checkered top tucked into khaki pants. He then said he wanted to celebrate his 58th birthday as "just a Guy" instead of being "Guy" before blowing out his candles.

Many took to the comments section to say that they didn't recognize him at all, with his son, Hunter, commenting that he looked like an insurance salesman.

It wasn't done just for laughs, however, as Fieri revealed that there's a reason for the makeover.

Days after debuting his new look, Fieri confirmed that it was done in collaboration with tech company Bosch and a new commercial.

The campaign's concept required the Food Network star to make some big changes, and he readily agreed. In an interview with People, Fieri said, "If you're going to go big, go big. They said, 'Well, can you shave your goatee?' And I said, 'I would for this. This is such an important commercial. This is such a big deal."

Fieri's new look was so different from his typical style that he even fooled his own mother. He recalled sending a photo to his mom, who asked, "Who's that?" She even insisted that while it looked like her son, she was convinced it wasn't him.

The New Guy Fieri Is Not AI

When he posted the short birthday video on Instagram, many assumed that it was done with AI. However, a spokesperson from the company shared that no artificial intelligence was used. Instead, they relied on computer-generated imagery.

"The video was shot with Guy Fieri himself, and the Justaguy transformation was achieved using high-end post-production visual effects," the spokesperson noted.

Fieri confirmed this and shared that he shot the commercial over two days on several sets, using multiple cameras. "It was the craziest 24 to 36 hours of my filming career," the chef added, noting the experience was like shooting a movie.

Fans will be happy to know that while he shaved his beard, his iconic hairstyle was spared. He wore a wig instead, which he said was a grueling two-hour process.

Bosch's Second Year In The Super Bowl

The concept for the new commercial took months to develop, and it's the brand's goal to highlight Bosch's innovation while incorporating humor to catch the audience's attention.

Fieri boasted that Bosch wasn't afraid to push the envelope when it came to coming up with a unique concept, and he promised that fans would be "questioning what they're seeing" when they see the final result.

The new commercial with Fieri will be Bosch's second time running an ad in the Super Bowl. As reported by AdWeek, the company ran a commercial last year that featured actor Antonio Banderas and a Randy "Macho Man" Savage lookalike.

Bosch Chief Marketing Officer Boris Dolkhani shared how 2025's ad boosted the brand. "Last year's debut sparked immediate momentum, and we've seen that energy translate into stronger retail demand and brand awareness," he shared.

This year, they're aiming to ride that momentum and up the humor further to give audiences an unforgettable commercial.

Guy Fieri Shared A Teaser For His Commercial

While it's still more than a week before the commercial is aired, Fieri and Bosch took to social media to share a teaser of what's to come.

In the short clip, Fieri is sitting on a chair in front of a mirror, staring at himself while wearing a red leather jacket and sporting his spiky hairstyle. The camera slowly pans out, revealing a man approaching Fieri while holding an electric razor.

Fieri then changes to Justaguy before going back to his original look, all while the razor gets closer to his face.

Fans will just have to wait for Super Bowl 60 on February 8 to see the entire ad.
