Ariana Grande is one of the latest major celebrities speaking out against Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents after the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti.
Pretti was shot and killed by ICE agents in Minneapolis during an immigration operation, sparking condemnation from Minneapolis community members, government officials, and some of the entertainment industry's biggest stars.
Ariana Grande Seemingly Calls For Abolition of ICE After Second Fatal Shooting

Grande reshared a social media post from Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani, who blasted ICE agents following the second fatal shooting of a Minneapolis resident.
"As tens of thousands across America protest the violence that ICE sows with impunity, federal agents shot and killed another person in Minneapolis today," the post read. "ICE terrorizes our cities. ICE puts us all in danger. Abolish ICE."
Social media users were more than pleased with Grande's post about the matter, with one user noting the Grammy-winning singer has "always been politically outspoken," while another praised her for "always being on the right side of history."
"I'm so grateful to her for using her voice to speak up for those who can't speak for themselves," another user wrote, while another lauded her and Olivia Rodrigo for being their "favorite outspoken political pop girlies."

According to The Blast, ICE agents shot and killed a 37-year-old US citizen, Alex Pretti, during an immigration operation on Saturday, January 24, 2026.
ICE officials have said that Pretti, a Minnesota nurse, approached the agents with a firearm; however, videos and witness accounts contradict those statements.
Per the BBC, Pretti became involved in an altercation with an ICE agent after an agent seemingly pushed a woman. When Pretti tried to intervene, an agent sprayed Pretti with a substance before the man was tackled to the ground and later shot multiple times.
While ICE officials and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said Pretti was brandishing a gun, videos appear to show the only thing Pretti had in his hand was his phone.
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz reacted to the statements by DHS and ICE officials, thanking God for the video of the incident. "... because, according to DHS, these seven heroic guys took an onslaught of a battalion against them or something. It's nonsense, people. It is nonsense, and it's lies," he stated.
Grande Not The Only Celeb To Speak Out Against ICE

Grande isn't the only pop star to speak out against ICE, according to The Blast.
Popular artists, including Olivia Rodrigo and Zara Larsson, have used their platforms to raise awareness of the unrest in Minneapolis in early January 2026.
Singer Billie Eilish also reshared stories to her Instagram, labeling ICE a "federally funded and supported terrorist group," while Cynthia Nixon wrote plainly: "Abolish ICE!"

The fatal shooting of Pretti is impacting more than just singers and movie stars, according to The Blast. NBA All-Star Tyrese Haliburton also reacted to the news and issued a bold statement.
"Alex Pretti was murdered," the Indiana Pacers star wrote online, garnering support from users who praised the Iowa State alum for using his voice to speak out against what they perceive to be injustice.
"Always respected you as a player, happy to respect you as a man," someone wrote online, while another said the world "needs more leaders like you."
Prior to Pretti's shooting, ICE agents in Minneapolis shot and killed Renee Good, another American citizen, after getting into an altercation in early January 2026.
Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr broke his silence to reporters, calling the shooting "shameful" before criticizing law enforcement officers who can "commit" murder and get away with it.

While the public waits for more information about Pretti, his family has released a statement, urging the media to tell the "truth" about the "kindhearted soul."
"We are heartbroken but also very angry," the statement read. "The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting."
"I do not throw around the 'hero' term lightly. However, his last thought and act was to protect a woman. The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting. Alex is clearly not holding a gun when attacked by Trump's murdering and cowardly ICE thugs."
The statement concluded, "He was a good man."
