Britney Spears’ conservatorship case is back in court today, and the hearing will revolve around the co-conservators of her estate — Bessemer Trust — asking to be removed from the case.
As we reported, the financial advising company agreed to work with Britney’s father, Jamie Spears, as co-conservators of the pop star’s massive $60 Million fortune. But, before the advisors even got started, they are asking to be removed from the case. We’re told the reason behind the request, is the company has changed its mind after hearing Brit’s shocking testimony and doesn’t want to get involved in the drama.
“As a result of the conservatee’s testimony at the June 23 hearing, however, (Bessemer) has become aware that the conservatee objects to the continuance of her conservatorship and desires to terminate the conservatorship. (Bessemer) has heard the conservatee and respects her wishes,” the company stated.

The problem is, the move sets up Jamie Spears to become the sole conservator of Britney’s estate — if the judge signs off on this petition — which is most likely the case. Of course, Britney is adamant her father be removed from the case, and no longer wants him involved in any way.
The hearing begins at 1:30 PT and will be held in the Los Angeles County Courts.
It’s possible the attorneys involved in the case will discuss Britney’s stunning allegations against the conservators, but most likely it will ONLY be directly involving the petition with Bessemer Trust. Normally, the court hearings are specific to one action, as the petition to be removed, and won’t go off into other topics.
Britney Spears’ Mom Defends Her Rights

As we reported, Britney is asking for a new lawyer to join the case and wants to pick the person on her own. Apparently, Britney has already chosen a lawyer from one of the biggest law firms in the country, and the person will join today’s hearing hoping to be heard on her behalf. It’s unclear if the judge will allow it. It should be noted, while under a conservatorship, Britney is not allowed to sign a formal contract — which includes hiring a lawyer. In the past, the court has appointed an attorney for the pop star — but he recently resigned.
Britney’s mother agreed, and filed her own request, asking she be allowed to hire her own lawyer. “Now, and for the past many years, Conservatee is able to care for her person and in fact has, within the parameters of this conservatorship, earned literally hundreds of millions of dollars as an international celebrity,” she wrote.
Britney Spears is not required to appear inside the courtroom but is reportedly going to join in by phone from her home in Los Angeles.
We are in the courtroom…stay tuned!
