Lively’s text exchanges with Swift first surfaced in court documents obtained by E! News on January 20, detailing conversations about Baldoni.

According to the filings, the actress referred to the director, who denies all allegations against him, as her “doofus director” while asking Swift to look over a revised version of the script adapted from Colleen Hoover’s novel.

In a transcript from her July deposition, Lively explained that she sent the script because Swift was on her way to her apartment, where a meeting with Baldoni was taking place.

The “Cruel Summer” crooner’s response, quoted in the court papers, was direct and enthusiastic. “I’ll do anything for you!!" Swift allegedly said.

The 38-year-old continued by recalling moments from the meeting, writing, “I kept remembering stuff — You making sh*t up about me and lenses. And referring to yourself as my doll. This clown falling for all of it. But also resisting it.”

The court filings also reveal that Lively and Swift discussed how the musician’s music could influence control over the film.

In messages dated April 26, 2024, Swift shared her view on strategy, allegedly writing, “If Justin was strategic He would be like no Taylor swift in the trailer. Because that gives you more power over the film, that’s your ally not his.”

Lively agreed, responding, “You are so right… He should’ve run from your music… How stupid. This was his only shot at having the appearance of an upper hand.”

In other texts, Swift advised her friend that the director was not “strategic,” reinforcing the sense that the two were closely aligned as tensions around the film escalated.

According to Justin Baldoni’s lawyers, Blake Lively also shared her frustrations with other high-profile friends, including Matt Damon, Lucy Damon, and Ben Affleck.

The filings claim she told Affleck that Baldoni was a “chaotic clown,” a description that appeared in a text reading, “I ended up rewriting and restructuring the entire script, I also ended up having to direct the movie via the chaotic clown ‘director’/actor/producer/ financier/studio head at the center.”

Lively’s lawyers did not dispute the message’s contents but said it should be viewed in context.

Baldoni’s legal team further alleged that Lively told friends she “rewrote the script” and “directed every actor,” claims that fed into accusations she took control of the production with help from Ryan Reynolds.

In December 2024, as a New York Times article detailing Lively’s allegations against Baldoni was about to be published, the actress and Swift exchanged more pointed messages.

According to the court papers, Swift wrote, “I think this b*tch [Baldoni] knows something is coming because he’s gotten out his tiny violin.”

Lively’s lawyers said the pair were not discussing the Times article specifically, though they did not challenge the accuracy of the texts.

Around the same period, Reynolds also contacted celebrity friends, with one message quoted as calling Baldoni “a malignantly vein [sic], sociopathic FAUXminist with almost no sense of boundaries or shame. I cannot believe he hasn’t gone to jail.”

The filings also note that Lively conveyed her views to Vogue editor Anna Wintour, who responded sympathetically, saying, “how hard a situation it was for you” to make the film.
