Courteney Cox is finally getting a taste of what an Emmy nomination for “Friends” feels like.
Unlike her five other co-stars, Cox has never gotten an Emmy nomination for her role as Monica Geller on the hit ‘90s sitcom.
The 2021 Emmy nominations were announced today and Cox was among the many talented actors to receive a nomination.
Her Emmy nom for the show comes 17 years after its finale.
Every cast member of the show, minus Cox, has received at least one Emmy nomination for the sitcom.
Jennifer Aniston, who portrayed Rachel Green, was nominated and won the Emmy for ‘Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy’ in 2002.
Lisa Kudrow, who played the eccentric Phoebe Buffay, took home the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy in 1998.
“Friends” received 62 Primetime Emmy nominations during its 10-year-long run.
In May, Aniston, Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and Cox reunited for the “Friends: The Reunion” special which aired on HBO Max.
The reunion special marked the first time in 17 years the cast stepped foot in the studio where the show was filmed.
Thank god this reunion special went off without a hitch, because it scored them four Emmy nominations, including one for “Best Special, Pre-Recorded.”
Cox and her former co-stars all served as producers on the project, and this ultimately secured her a first-time Emmy nom for the show.
While it may not be the nomination she had dreamed of over the years, it’s a nomination nonetheless.

The actress took to her Instagram account to celebrate the nomination.
She captioned a picture of her and her cast-mates, “The one where we are incredibly grateful to the Academy for this honor and especially thankful for @mrbenwinston and his entire team for their outstanding achievement.”
Last month, Cox opened up about how never receiving an Emmy nomination for the show impacted her mentally and emotionally.
During an interview with Howard Stern, the “Cougar Town” actress said, “It always hurt my feelings … when every single cast member was nominated but me, it definitely hurt my feelings.”

Despite never getting an Emmy nod, Cox was supportive of her co-stars.
“I was happy for everybody, and then when it was finally like, ‘Oh, I’m the only one?,’ it hurt,” she said.
Cox finally felt vindicated when she was nominated for a Golden Globe for “Cougar Town” during its first year on-air.
“The only thing that made me feel good — because they’ve all won and they’ve gotten so many accolades — I got nominated for ‘Cougar Town’ the first year — a Golden Globe. And I want to say, ‘Oh, who cares?’ But it meant everything to me,” she told the on-air veteran.
