Years after igniting one of the internet’s most bizarre hygiene controversies, Kutcher is finally setting the record straight on whether his family actually has an aversion to water.

The actor recently sat down to discuss his physical transformation for his role in “The Beauty,” but the conversation quickly shifted to the infamous 2021 bathing scandal.

Back then, Kutcher and his wife, Mila Kunis, made waves during an appearance on Dax Shepard’s “Armchair Expert” podcast by admitting they didn't believe in a daily "top-to-bottom" soap scrub for themselves or their children.

During a recent interview with People Magazine, Kutcher described the resulting media firestorm as "the craziest thing of all time," recalling how the public began to speculate if they simply walked around smelling like a gym locker.

“It was the craziest thing of all time. We made a comment at one point, and people were like, 'Does he stink? Does he smell?'” he said.

During the exclusive interview, he turned to his co-stars, Anthony Ramos and Jeremy Pope, to clear his name once and for all. "I shower, I go to the gym, I shower," he insisted, prompting a laugh and a playful witness statement from Ramos, who confirmed, "My boy showers."

The original drama stemmed from Kunis’s candid admission that she grew up without consistent hot water, which shaped a more minimalist approach to hygiene.

“I don't wash my body with soap every day. But I wash pits and t-ts and holes and soles,” Kunis said at the time, as The Blast reported.

“I wash my armpits and my crotch daily, and nothing else ever. I got a bar of Lever 2000 that just delivers every time. Nothing else,” Kutcher agreed.

Kutcher's latest update makes it clear that while they might skip the unnecessary suds, they are definitely keeping things fresh.

Shortly after the podcast went viral in 2021, Kunis appeared on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” where she didn't hide her frustration over how a casual parenting anecdote had spiraled into a global debate.

As soon as DeGeneres brought up the "chatter," the “Black Swan” said, "it's so dumb!” she said, per The Blast

Attempting to inject some humor into the awkward situation, Kunis jokingly offered a peace offering to her critics by saying, "We bathe our dogs. Does that make people happy?"

She also painted a relatable and chaotic picture of motherhood, joking that her "intent every day" is to scrub her kids, only to have bedtime arrive before she even realizes she forgot to feed them.

While Kutcher and Kunis have tried to set the record straight about their reputation, the reality of their current standing in Hollywood appears much more somber.

According to The Blast, industry insiders suggest that Kutcher is acutely aware that he has “fallen out of favor” with both the public and his peers.

This is largely tied to a series of high-profile controversies that have left fans feeling betrayed. In 2023, the couple faced massive backlash for writing character letters to a judge urging leniency for their former co-star, convicted rapist Danny Masterson.

The situation only worsened as Kutcher's decades-long friendship with Sean "Diddy" Combs came under intense scrutiny following the rapper's own legal convictions.

While Kutcher and Kunis’ image still hangs in the balance, their attempts to project a happy, carefree image haven't fared much better with the public.

The couple sparked a wave of online mockery after a video went viral showing them packing on the PDA at a “Backstreet Boys” concert in Las Vegas.

What was likely intended as a sweet moment was quickly picked apart by fans who found the display entirely too convenient.

The backlash on social media was swift, with many tagging the performance as a "cringe" public relations stunt designed to distract from their recent controversies.

One fan wrote, "They would be the best couple in Hollywood if they didn't have MASSIVE skeletons in their closet,” per The Blast.

Despite their attempts to project a united front of domestic bliss at concerts, the public remains unconvinced by Kutcher and Kunis’s attempts at smoothing their public image.

They recently made an appearance at the Golden Globes, but the glamorous setting did little to soften the sharp criticism directed their way.

According to The Blast, Kunis turned heads in a black-and-white Carolina Herrera gown featuring a floral tea-length skirt, while Kutcher opted for a classic monochrome suit.

One fan wrote, “Who wants to tell them we still haven't forgiven them for supporting Danny Masterson?” and another added, "They aren't royalty anymore."

Another fan slammed them, asking, “Are they forgiven yet?”
