Timothee Chalamet Shines In Box Office After Scooping Up The Awards Season

The actor has shown Leonardo DiCaprio, who is the boss at the box office, continuing his winning streak, which began at the start of the awards season.

Timothee Chalamet won his first-ever Golden Globe award on Sunday night in the Best Male Actor in a musical or comedy category after four previous nominations.

The screen icon added another medal to his arsenal and intensified the ongoing rivalry between himself and DiCaprio by exceeding him at the movie box office in gross revenue. This was made public by a page on X, Global Box Office, which tracks worldwide box office news and gives movie reviews.

Chalamet’s “Marty Supreme,” which cost about $65 million to produce, has now hit $72.3 million at the box office, surpassing DiCaprio’s $140 million budget “One Battle After Another,” which gained $71.6 million in gross revenue.

Perhaps the most striking thing, according to The Daily Mail, is that Chalamet’s Golden Globe-winning movie literally gulped only half of the budget used to bring DiCaprio’s project to life. This is a testament to “Marty Supreme” acceptance among box office audiences and its general commercial acceptance.

It was a victorious moment for Chalamet, who finally clinched the coveted award with his role as an aspiring table tennis champion in the epic movie. When he was announced the winner among a plethora of good movies, including DiCaprio’s last Sunday, both actors took their fate in giant strides.

DiCaprio was captured walking up to congratulate Chalamet during a commercial break for his win and went in for a hug while exchanging words with Kylie Jenner’s beau.

Chalamet reportedly gave DiCaprio his flowers on the spot by telling him that he feels greatly inspired by his works, and the chat continued until they were instructed to return to their seats for the show to continue.

The “Titanic” actor even posed with Chalamet for a quick photograph, sealing the deal of solidarity. The duo will probably have another face-off at the Oscars in the Best Actor category, and Chalamet is speculated to take the 24k gold statuette home.

Safe to say the awards rushing in are proof of Chalamet's complete dedication to his craft and impressive work ethic.The Blast stated that the actor presented himself to do all the work for a slightly painful scene in the movie, and it paid off.

Chalamet was faced with the challenge of enduring a smack to his bare butt from his co-star Milton Rockwell’s (played by Kevin O’Leary) paddle. The initial plan was to use a stunt double and a fake paddle to achieve the scene, until Chalamet came up with the bright idea of doing it himself due to the prop getting damaged.

According to O'Leary, Chalamet said: “Timmy walked in [and] said, 'No, it's got to be my a-s. I'm going to immortalize my a-s on film in perpetuity.” The duo got to it, and the director reportedly demanded for a harder hit to make it more realistic.

O’Leary recalled his partner’s eyeball literally exploding “out of his head” the moment he “nailed his right cheek.” Chalamet’s co-star praised his dedication and also said that the actor deserved an Oscar for his brilliance.

The actor would not forget his experience on the set of “Marty Supreme” in a hurry, and this particular episode left a lasting mark on his heart. 

According to The Blast, the actor revealed during an interview session alongside Robert Downey that he faced a few challenges with non-actors, especially during multiple takes for scenes that required a bit more emotion.

He recalled his unending attempt to get a background actor to lean into his emotional side and get very angry to make a scene more realistic, and it worked, but at a prudent cost.

“I did another take, and then the guy said, ‘I was just in jail for 30 years. You really don't want to f-ck with me. You don't want to see me angry,” Chalamet detailed. He confessed that the instant switch in the background actor’s tone left him shaken and wondering where the director got him from.

The talented actor admitted a few truths while receiving his Critics Choice and Golden Globe awards on the stage, and one of them was his unending admiration for the mogul, as shared by Harper’s Bazaar.

On Sunday night, the actor emphasized the importance of gratitude, which was instilled in him by his father, and then proceeded to conclude his speech saying: “For my parents, for my partner, I love you. Thank you so much.”

A few days earlier at the Critics' Choice Awards, Chalamet praised Jenner, who looked dashing in a gold outfit and sleek bun, from the stage. It marked the first time ever that Chalamet would say such words to the business owner very publicly.

“And lastly, I’ll just say ‘Thank you’ to my partner of three years. Thank you for our foundation. I love you. I couldn’t do this without you. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart,” the actor mouthed, as Jenner responded, “I love you” with teary eyes.

That is a treble for Timothee Chalamet in 2026. Will an Oscar make it a grand slam?
