The rock and roll legend gave Rogan and his audience a piece of his mind on how politics should work in line with his views about life. According to him, his beliefs are rooted in humility and not taking oneself “so f-cking seriously.”

John then switched the direction of his rant towards politicians who fail to emulate these sterling traits of his. In his words verbatim: “That’s what I hate about politics today. There's no f-cking humility. How about some humility, I don’t care what party you're with. I don’t give a f-ck.”

He noted on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast on Wednesday that politicians do not “show some humility and some respect for each other,” which is a very terrible way to approach things.

John Mellencamp Hinted At His Plans For A Massive Musical Project

From his fantasies to his beliefs and dramatic pasts, John really spilled the tea on the over 2-hour-long show. He disclosed his genius plans to embark on a “greatest hits” tour, which is very unlike something he has done before.

John explained that now that he is in his 70s, he has started seeing his career and life in a very different light, which demands that he take very bold decisions. According to him, “‘I can’t even imagine thinking back to when I was like 35. That idea would be like, "Shut the f-ck up, I’m not doing that.”

He added that the push to do more also came from his pal and actor, Sean Penn, who nudged him to show off the best part of his catalogue, stressing that if he had the chance, he absolutely would do it.

The 74-year-old did not just start picking bones with politicians and their insensitive attitudes, which put the lives of everyone at risk with their policies.

As shared by American Songwriter, John slammed the politicians four years ago for dragging their feet on gun control right after the indiscriminate shootings in Uvalde, Texas, Buffalo, New York, and countless other cities in America.

He posted a lengthy rant on Twitter (now known as X) in 2022 that so many people lose their lives to gun violence, only to be buried and forgotten “with a flimsy little thumbnail, a vague notion of some sort of gun control law laying on the senators’ desks.”

John noted that the pro-life rhetoric often spun by some of the politicians has failed to reflect in their actions, as they barely care about people, including children who have unfortunately lost their lives to these shootings. The singer assured his readers that if urgent action is not taken, it will repeat itself over and over again.

As acknowledged by Mellencamp.com, the singer has used his platform as a widely accepted musician to make firm opinions on politics.

In fact, he was the first singer to speak up against the war in Iraq, which pitted him against several politicians in his hometown. He began getting the fist from neighbors, while his wife dealt with hecklers in their local store, but all these did not deter the musician.

John insisted that the information that the country weaponizes to unleash their senseless attacks is often very tainted. The rockstar blamed the hyper nationalism that swept across America after the 9/11 incident for their constant need to save the world.

The musician argued thus: “When people are for the country right or wrong, America right or wrong, it's a lot like Germany. Nationalism is a bad thing. And when you have a mob mentality over a country, over a swastika, over the Führer, over the Iraq war, the outcome is not going to be good."

The songwriter was front row in with the positive vibes and support during Teddi’s episode with cancer. The Blast shared that John was present by his daughter’s bedside and rushed down there the moment he heard she was going in to remove the multiple tumors in her brain.

The singer completely shoved aside their somewhat rocky relationship to put family first and be her rock in the midst of doubts about her recovery.

A source close to the family emphasized that John has never stopped seeing Teddi as his little girl and would do anything to make her feel better, even though he was worried about the outcome of the surgery. Despite the success of the surgery, Teddi reportedly endured a great deal of pain, and John could not bear it.
