It appears Tommy Lee Jones did everything within his power to save his daughter from the bad influences that eventually claimed her life.
It has been over a week since the "Men in Black" star's only daughter, Victoria Jones, took her final breath on January 1 at 34 years old from a suspected drug overdose.
Details about Victoria Jones' life, especially her battle with substance abuse, have surfaced after her death. Most recently, Tommy Lee Jones' efforts to place her under conservatorship have been unveiled.
Tommy Lee Jones Filed A Conservatorship Petition In 2023

According to Marin County Superior Court docket entries, Tommy submitted a "Petition for Appointment of Temporary Conservator of the Person" on August 7, 2023. He dropped supporting declarations and an ex parte application to place Victoria under temporary conservatorship.
The docket entries reviewed by PEOPLE revealed that a judge had granted Tommy's request days after his petition. A professional temporary conservator was appointed to oversee Victoria's personal care; however, confidential information about her health at the time wasn't disclosed.
Nonetheless, the outlet noted that a previous report claimed Victoria had been placed on an involuntary hold at a hospital in Greenbrae. The incident stemmed from an alleged 14-day psychiatric hold order after authorities determined Tommy's daughter was a danger to herself or others.
The Conservatorship Was Terminated Months Later

According to the previous report, Tommy had filed the conservatorship petition because Victoria was appealing the involuntary psychiatric hold. He allegedly implored the judge to appoint a conservator and arrange for his daughter's transfer to a rehabilitation center.
Tommy reportedly requested that Victoria be moved to the rehab facility "immediately upon her release." It is unclear how the incident ended, but it must have been resolved to the Hollywood veteran's satisfaction as he requested the conservatorship termination in December 2023.
According to court records, Tommy's termination request was granted on December 18, 2023, ultimately giving Victoria back her freedom. Unfortunately, she failed to overcome her vices and was found dead at the San Francisco Fairmont Hotel on January 1, 2026, from a suspected drug overdose.
Tommy Lee Jones' Daughter Had Multiple Incidents With The Law

The 2023 involuntary psychiatric hold marked one of Victoria's many incidents with the law before her passing. The Blast reported that she had three encounters with the law in 2025, with the first arrest occurring in February.
Tommy's daughter got into trouble for allegedly attacking a man. The victim called 911 to report the incident, stressing that they did not wish to press charges against Victoria and only wished to have the incident documented.
The same man was reportedly the victim of a second domestic violence incident in June, where Victoria was accused of slapping him twice. As for her third run-in with the law, Tommy's daughter was arrested during a welfare check, where she allegedly confessed to using cocaine.
The Oscar Winner Is Reportedly Overwhelmed By Grief

Days earlier, The Blast shared that Tommy was spotted for the first time after his daughter's passing. The paparazzi caught him out and about in San Antonio, Texas, leaning on his wife for support. The images and videos captured the actor looking frail and limping as he walked.
An insider shed light on his feeble appearance, alleging the loss had taken its toll on Tommy. "Tommy is heartbroken. For a tough guy and one that usually has it all together, the stress of losing a child has clearly hit him like a ton of bricks," they claimed.
The insider noted that Tommy had stopped working to mourn privately, but his age and grieving heart made the emotionally devastating period all the harder to bear. According to reports of Victoria's passing, she had been using cocaine while preparing to ring in the new year.
Tommy Lee Jones' Late Daughter Was Painted As A Troubled Child

Victoria chose to stay at the San Francisco Fairmont Hotel with a group of friends to welcome 2026, but death had other plans. Law enforcement sources claimed Tommy's daughter had a noticeable bluish change on her lips and fingernails when first responders arrived.
There were allegedly no immediate signs of foul play, and no drug paraphernalia was discovered nearby. The Blast reported that a senior San Francisco police officer who handled Victoria's case in the past painted her as a problem child.
The officer noted that Victoria had gotten into trouble numerous times, where she appeared to be high on drugs. Based on these incidents, the law enforcement source suspected she had died from a drug overdose, likely something fentanyl related.
The official cause of Tommy Lee Jones' daughter's death is yet to be revealed.
