Dax Shepard Reacts To Cher's Low-Key Roast On The Golden Globes Red Carpet

Dax Shepard has no bone to pick with Cher over her opinions on his marriage to Kristen Bell.

The filmmaker's union with the actress became the topic of discussion when the musician appeared on his podcast last week and defended the actress for sticking by him, even with better choices.

Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell tied the knot over a decade ago in October 2013 at the Beverly Hills courthouse after they previously vowed to wait until same-sex marriage was legalized in California.

The actor caught up with the press on the Golden Globes red carpet on Sunday, where he was asked to share his thoughts on Cher saying Bell was too good for him.

Shepard attended the event due to his show being nominated for the best podcast, which is a new category at the Golden Globes. In his words to Access Hollywood, Shephard stressed:

"I think we both expected that. That's why you love Cher, which couldn't be greater."

His co-host, Monica Padman, also expressed an equal admiration for Shephard, stating that people need to listen to the whole podcast to understand where Cher was coming from because everything she says is literally perfect.

Shepard assured the red carpet press that he took Cher's word in good faith and even thought it was hysterical. The statement came after Bell got into trouble for her wedding anniversary post.

The legendary singer hyped up Bell during her appearance on Shepard's show by describing the TV star as the better half in the marriage. As noted by The Blast, Cher emphasized that she is strictly loyal to the actress due to their history together, including an appearance on "Burlesque" in 2010.

Shepard then got more curious about who Cher would have preferred for Bell since she feels the actress is the better half, while also agreeing with Cher's comment.

The singer did not immediately give Shepard an answer on who his replacement would be, but she still insisted Bell must have been with him because he did something right, which she does not know about.

Bell certainly won Cher's heart, given her sterling reviews about her on Shepard's podcast. Still, the actress fell out of the public's good books for a minute following her dramatic anniversary wish to Shepard.

The actress took to Instagram to compose a very witty paragraph on why Shepard has been the best partner for 13 years now. 

"Happy 12th wedding anniversary to the man who once said to me, 'I would never kill you. A lot of men have killed their wives at a certain point. Even though I'm heavily incentivized to kill you, I never would," the actress declared on her Instagram page.

Bell's post instantly became controversial, with several internet users condemning her for her choice of words, especially during Domestic Violence awareness month. Some commenters noted that such a post deserved the actor to consider leaving the marriage behind.

The actor got candid in a confessional with his ex of nine years, Breigh Morrison, on his podcast, where he discussed their breakup, post-breakup, and life with his wife.

Shepard admitted that dealing with their fallout was tough on him, but he was hopeful that Morrison would eventually find someone who deeply cared about her.

The Blast stated that Shepard confessed that he now sees many parallels between Bell and Morrison. He expressed that he really admired their ability to hear other people’s perspectives on situations, consider them, and integrate them.

“Neither of you guys are, like, stuck. You’re very fluid. For me, it’s an imperative quality,” Shepard continued. He emphasized that his admiration for these sterling traits runs deep, and he is filled with gratitude for their situation.

“You’re just one of the greats of all time. I’m glad our lives worked out so well,” Shepard concluded in the podcast session.

Well, some sources close to the couple claimed that her words in the anniversary post carried deeper meanings for those who truly know about the actress and her husband's marriage.

According to an insider, the couple is both on edge when it comes to their respective temperaments, and they can go days without talking after an argument.

The TV star herself recalled one of the episodes of their fight back in 2020, where Shepard thought she was controlling after she told him to do a simple task.

"We both blacked out and got into a fight. A lot of harsh words being thrown around. I grabbed my pillow, stomped down the hall, and slept in the front room, crying," the actress shared.

She, however, praised therapy for always helping them find their way back to each other after any argument. According to her, they discovered the benefits of therapy six months into their relationship and have always put it on their priority list when it comes to their marriage essentials.
