Wanda Sykes isn't afraid to take a stance against ICE, even during the Golden Globes.

The actress made a bold statement at the award ceremony by wearing a “Be good” pin to protest the death of Renee Good, who was shot in Minneapolis by ICE agents.

In addition to Sykes, Jean Smart, and Mark Ruffalo similarly took a stance against the killing by wearing the pins and speaking out on the matter during red carpet interviews.

Wanda Sykes & Other High-Profile Figures Make Bold Statements Against ICE

The 2026 Golden Globes were a star-studded affair that drew several high-profile figures. However, the death of Good, who was shot on January 7, 2026, in Minneapolis during an immigration-related operation, took center stage.

Sykes, who was one of the prestigious presenters, took the opportunity to make a statement against Good’s killing.

Sykes wore the “Be good” pin on her shiny suit, and when asked about the accessory, she said to Variety, “Of course, this is for the mother who was murdered by an ICE agent [during the ] really sad” shooting, which took place in Minnesota.”

The 61-year-old actress urged more people to speak up against the “rogue government,” noting that the government’s actions were “just awful.”

Meanwhile, Jean Smart also fearlessly donned the pin on her white dress and noted that the country is headed towards a “turning point.”

“I know that there are people who find it annoying when actors take opportunities to talk about social and political things, but I’m not here right now speaking as an actor. I’m here speaking as a citizen and a mom, and I hope people understand that,” she added, per Page Six.

Similarly, Mark Ruffalo took a stance against the injustice by wearing the pin on his white suit.

Meanwhile, Simu Liu shared a post on Instagram, admitting that he was “beyond appalled at the murderous actions of ICE agents.”

Just as Nixon, Liu, and Seyfried openly condemned ICE, singer Zara Larsson also publicly protested against the government agency.

She shared a post on Instagram, listing the things she likes, while declaring her hatred for ICE.

“I love immigrants ... criminals ... trans people," the post began. "I love abortions ... queers ... slutty women ... contraception… I love welfare ... socialism… I f-cking hate ICE,” she wrote, as reported by The Blast.

Larsson wasn't the only one who spoke against ICE on social media.

According to The Blast, Steve Kerr, Golden State Warriors head coach, called Good’s death “shameful” and accused the government of telling a “lie about what happened.”

He continued, “So, very demoralizing, devastating to lose anyone’s life, especially in that manner. So it’s terrible, terribly sad for her family, and for her, and that city, and I’m glad the Timberwolves came out and expressed that sadness.”

For some of these A-list celebrities, it might be their first time speaking against the government, but for Sykes, it's a road she’s all too familiar with.

In September 2024, the comedienne was interviewed on “The View,” where she was asked about the possibility of being targeted by Donald Trump as a comic. She replied by jokingly agreeing to share a cell with the show’s host, Joy Behar.

However, she also noted that although they were joking about it, the scenario was plausible because Trump was keen on continuing in his dictatorial ways.

“It’s ridiculous. I mean, it is… I know you’re making a joke about it, but it could really happen. He could; he wants to be a dictator,” she said, per The Blast.
