Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr expressed disappointment over the fatal shooting of Minneapolis resident Renee Good. Good was shot by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent on January 7, 2026, after getting involved in a tense altercation.
Steve Kerr isn't the only public figure who has expressed sadness over the unfortunate loss of life in Minnesota. Actors and musicians alike have come together to condemn ICE and its federal agents, calling for their permanent removal.
Steve Kerr Lets Law Enforcement Agents And ICE Have It Over Tragic Shooting

Kerr addressed Good's death on Friday, January 9, at the Chase Center in San Francisco.
"I’m glad that the Timberwolves recognized her life and the tragic nature of her death," Kerr said before calling the fatal shooting "shameful."
Kerr explained how unfortunate it was that "law enforcement officers" could "seemingly "commit murder ... and get away with it."

Kerr continued, blasting "the government" for telling a "lie about what happened" despite the existence of video evidence and witness accounts.
"So, very demoralizing, devastating to lose anyone’s life, especially in that manner," Kerr, who is also a combined nine-time NBA champion as a player and coach, added. "So it’s terrible, terribly sad for her family, and for her, and that city, and I’m glad the Timberwolves came out and expressed that sadness."
The Minnesota Timberwolves took a moment before Friday's game to honor Good's life and legacy. Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch also commented on the "tragedy," sending support and well-wishes to Good's family.
"We want to just convey our condolences and heartfelt wishes and prayers and thoughts to the families and loved ones and all of those that are greatly affected by what happened," he said.

As previously reported, Good was shot and killed by a federal agent in Minnesota during an immigration operation. Sources have confirmed that Good was an American citizen and not the target of the operation.
Videos of the incident showed Good using her vehicle to partly block a lane, which ICE agents appeared to be trying to get through. In the clip, an ICE agent approached Good's door before trying to open it. Another agent then stepped in front of Good's vehicle as she was trying to pull away, prompting the initial agent to open fire.
Republican officials have condemned Good's alleged actions, accusing her of trying to use her vehicle as a weapon. Meanwhile, Democrats, including Governor Tim Walz and Mayor Jacob Frey, have denied their version of events.
Steve Kerr Has Been Vocal About His Disdain For President Donald Trump

Kerr has long supported Democratic candidates and policies, as well as the social issues he's passionate about.
Kerr was the target of President Donald Trump's ire in 2019 after the NBA coach declined to comment on the league's handling of a situation with another coach who made a political statement.
Trump called Kerr a "scared little boy"; however, Kerr was unbothered by his comment, explaining that it's par for the course.
"This is just another day. I was the shiny object yesterday. There was another one today; there will be a new one tomorrow. And the circus will go on. It's just strange, but it happened," Kerr said.
Kerr also reflected on how the office of the president has shifted over the years, reflecting on the "dignity and respect" past leaders had. "It's just sad it's come crashing down. That we are now living this," he said, according to ESPN.
Celebrities Speak Out After ICE Shooting Takes The Life Of A Minnesota Resident

According to a previous report from The Blast, other public figures have spoken out about the fatal shooting, including "Barbie" actor Simu Liu, who shared that he was "beyond appalled at the murderous actions of ICE agents."
Cynthia Nixon called for the arrest of the ICE agent who opened fire before writing on her Instagram Stories, "Abolish ICE!"
Grammy winner Billie Eilish shared a similar statement via a repost, which labeled ICE as a "federally funded and supported terrorist group."
