All is well with Savannah Guthrie!
She shared a positive update on her health, stirring up emotions from many fans. The journalist who recently took a break from work to undergo surgery was pleased to announce that she would be up and running soon.
Savannah Guthrie has been in the woods with some medical crisis for a few years, as she has had several surgeries on her vocal cords and eyes. Fortunately, all reported procedures have been successful so far.
Savannah Guthrie Will Be Back On-Screen In No Time

Guthrie shared a positive update on her Instagram following her recent vocal cord surgery. The post was a simple photo of herself smiling, holding a dry-erase whiteboard on which she wrote the message "All good! Thanks for prayers and love!"
The post was captioned "see you soon! [yellow heart emoji]," indicating that she would be back on air in no time.
The track "Sing" by travistheband was the background music for the post, which was quite ironic as Guthrie is not supposed to talk for a while, let alone sing. So far, her health update post has received thousands of reactions and hundreds of comments.

On December 19, 2025, Guthrie shared that she had an issue with her voice that would result in her stepping away from work for some time.
"I have vocal nodules, and now I also have a polyp; it's not a big, big deal," she said before disclosing that her surgery would come up early this year and that day on the show was going to be her last for a while.
As reported by TODAY, the 54-year-old further explained that part of her recovery journey would be having to stay completely silent for a few weeks. Furthermore, Guthrie was excited to have the surgery as the issue had been an ongoing battle for years.

The vocal nodules she had removed are not life-threatening but are non-cancerous growths of the vocal cords that have been negatively affecting her life and vocal health.
This is not the first surgery the mom of two has undergone. In the past years, she suffered vision problems, which led to having three surgeries done on her eyes.
As shared by Nicki Swift in an early release, Guthrie suffered a petrifying vision loss caused by retinal detachment. This happened after she was hit in the eye by her then-toddler's toy train. The time frame for her surgeries was quite sensitive as it fell briefly before and during the COVID-19 pandemic.
After having two successful surgeries to correct the tear, she developed cataracts, which is a common side effect of the procedure. Fortunately, her subsequent surgery corrected her vision and removed the cataracts.
Savannah Guthrie Previously Tested Positive For COVID-19

In 2022, Guthrie broke news of her positive coronavirus status. She did her news broadcast from her home, where she informed viewers of her status and the arrangement of her working from home as she recovered.
According to The Blast, her positive test came just a week after her 50th birthday party. She also expressed how she hoped to resume work fully at the time, joking about trading places with her colleague Hoda Kotb.
Guthrie, who had taken necessary vaccinations and suitable boosters, said she felt excellent health wise as she only had mild sniffles. "I feel good, feel really good, just a couple of days at home, and I'm sure I'll be back in the saddle soon." She said.
Wishing Savannah Guthrie a speedy recovery and hoping to hear her voice soon!
