Ryan Lochte has reportedly sold three of his Olympic gold medals for a hefty six-figure sum.

The 41-year-old has been in the headlines over the last several months due to his ongoing divorce from his wife, Kayla Lochte.

Ryan Lochte has also sparked concern after reports revealed the swimmer was facing financial woes.

According to a new report from CLLCT, Ryan has officially sold three of his Olympic gold medals for a whopping $385,520.

The Blast previously reported on Ryan's decision to auction his medals. The swimmer worked with Goldin Auction House and shared the news in an Instagram post.

Ryan previously sold bronze and silver medals for $166,000 in 2022; however, this year, he sold gold medals from the 2004, 2008, and 2016 Summer Games.

Ryan faced a wave of criticism after revealing he was partnering with Goldin to auction possessions many believed he should've kept forever.

Many speculated that he was struggling financially, suggesting he could find other ways to make money before selling the awards he had worked hard for.

However, Ryan fired back at his critics, saying that winning Olympic medals wasn't the reason he swam. "My passion has always been about being one of the best swimmers in the world. Those medals? They were just the cherry on top of an incredible journey," he said.

After earning more than 80 international medals throughout his career, Ryan explained that this way of giving back has been fulfilling for him. "I've given away medals to fans and young kids in the stands, because it's never been just about me. It's about inspiring the next generation and helping them chase their dreams. The memories, the hard work, and the connection with all of you are what I treasure the most," he said.

Ryan Lochte Is In The Middle Of A Messy Divorce From His Estranged Wife

According to The Blast, Ryan is in the midst of a contentious divorce from his estranged wife, Kayla.

The Florida-based real estate agent announced her plans to separate from the swimmer in the summer of 2025. "Sometimes we face trials we didn't choose or see coming. And in those moments, we're forced to make the hardest decisions to protect our peace, our children, and our future," she wrote on Instagram.

In the months that followed, Ryan and Kayla received extra attention due to their public divorce filings—in some of which, Kayla accused him of struggling with substance abuse and of having drugs around their minor children.

Did Ryan Auction His Gold Medals Due To Financial Struggles?

The auctioning of Ryan's medals comes at an interesting time, as the Fletcher Park Owners' Association sued him and Kayla in relation to their Gainesville, Florida, home.

Ryan and Kayla have been accused of failing to pay interest and various fees. The association reportedly filed a lien on the property in July 2025, seeking over $3,000 in payment. However, the fees remained outstanding, prompting a nasty lawsuit.

Prior to that, additional reports revealed that the pair had accumulated nearly $300,000 in debt from various lenders and government agencies, including the IRS and Shands Teaching Hospital and Clinic.

Ryan Is Joining A New Reality Show

In addition to the $385,000 from his gold medals, Ryan will also be able to add another hefty amount to his wallet due to his appearance on the Food Network's "Worst Cooks in America: Reality Check."

In the series, Ryan and a slew of other reality stars and celebrities will take part in a variety of competitions to take their cooking skills from "not" to "hot."

"The kitchen is not where this season’s celebrity recruits shine – but Jeff and Tiffany are determined to change that," said Betsy Ayala, Head of Content and Food at Warner Bros. "Worst Cooks is where comedy and cooking chaos collide, but in the end there are some impressive culinary transformations that will blow our audience away."

Ryan is joined by "Real Housewives of Salt Lake City" star Lisa Barlow, "Dancing with the Stars" veteran Val Chmerkovskiy, "Shahs of Sunset" OG Reza Farahan, and "The Challenge" legend Chris "CT" Tamburello.

Season 30 premieres tonight, January 4, 2026, at 8 PM EST.
