The actor opened the year 2026 with a statement, responding to Trump's post about recently becoming a French citizen alongside his wife. In his words: "I totally agree with the current president. We have to make America great again. We'll start in November."

The president had basically mocked the actor for taking the huge step on social media on New Year's Eve when he wrote: "Good News! George and Amal Clooney, two of the worst political prognosticators of all time, have officially become citizens of France."

The president continued that the couple made the move "in the midst of a major crime problem because of their absolutely horrendous handling of immigration, much like we had under Sleepy Joe Biden."

Trump continued that George did wrong by Biden when he decided to side with Kamala Harris, who, according to him, is allegedly battling "Tim Waltz, Gavin Newscum, for who is going to lead the Democrats to their future defeat."

As shared by The Hollywood Reporter, the politician also came to George's career, claiming that he has become more popular for his constant opinions about politics, rather than his prowess as an actor.

The media personality and his wife, alongside their twin kids, received their French citizenship via decrees published in France's official journal, as reported by Fortune.

George and Amal have earned the process by naturalization, and their primary residence in France is the former wine estate, Domaine du Canadel, which they bought in 2021.

According to George, the property marks a radical shift away from his life in Los Angeles, where he blew into the limelight. The actor has also previously expressed why he does not see the busy city of Los Angeles as the ideal place to raise his family.

He touched on the culture of Hollywood and how it may deny his kids a fair shot at an everyday life, compared to France, where they do not place emphasis on fame. George stressed that he has no will to see his kids constantly haunted by the paparazzi or be compared to other celebrity kids.

The actor asserted that his children will have a much better upbringing and a family-oriented lifestyle on the farm in France compared to Los Angeles.

The 64-year-old appeared on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" in February, where he spoke about the electoral process in America and the defeat suffered by the Democratic Party in the 2024 elections.

As reported by The Blast, Clooney, who pitched his tent with the democratic candidate, explained that he was raised a Democrat in Kentucky and, despite Harris' loss, he chose to remain level-headed about the situation.

"It's part of democracy. There are people who agree and disagree, and most of us still like each other; we're all gonna get through it," the Oscar winner continued.

The actor then left a candid word of advice to Trump, urging him to do well for Americans because the country and its people need it.

Although the actor admitted that loss is a regular occurrence in any democratic process, he did his best to forestall that when he publicly advised the then presidential nominee, Biden, to step aside for a new candidate.

The actor voiced this opinion in a piece published in the New York Times and titled "I Love Joe Biden, But We Need a New Nominee," just a month before the 2024 Democratic National Convention.

George's article also came after the former president recorded a terrible outing during the presidential debate in June 2024. The actor had made himself an integral part of Biden's campaign when he raised $30 million for his re-election bid in 2023.

"We are not going to win in November with this president. On top of that, we won't win the House, and we're going to lose the Senate," the media personality stated, as he stressed that Biden was not the energetic politician he knew years back.

The father of two made so many changes in his life within the last decade, and most recently, he decided to finally do away with locking lips with girls on-screen.

After an eventful career filled with thrilling scenes and steamy episodes with Catherine Zeta Jones and Julia Roberts, The Blast stated that the actor cited his age as the most significant influence behind his decision.

"When I turned 60, I had a conversation with my wife. I said, 'Look, I can still play basketball with the boys. I play with 25-year-old guys. I can still hang, I'm in shape. But in 25 years, I'm 85 years old. It doesn't matter how many granola bars you eat, that's a real number," George added.
