Wild Sideline Fight Erupts As Giants Players Appears To Stomp Raiders Star's Head

A chaotic sideline fight during Sunday’s New York Giants vs. Las Vegas Raiders matchup is making the rounds online after a fan-captured clip showed Giants cornerback Rico Payton appearing to attempt to stomp on the head of Raiders player Chigozie Anuseim during a vicious brawl. The incident unfolded in Sin City and was caught on camera by a fan who happened to have a front-row view of the altercation. The footage, now circulating widely on X (formerly Twitter), shows the fight spilling dangerously close to the Giants’ bench as tempers boiled over.

According to the video, the confrontation began near the Giants’ sideline when Payton shoved Anuseim into a water cooler positioned along the bench area. The Raiders player quickly responded by tackling Payton to the ground, setting off a physical struggle that escalated almost immediately.

Both players can be seen wrestling on the turf and appearing to throw punches as teammates from the Giants rushed in from multiple directions in an attempt to break things up.

While several Giants players managed to get between the two and partially separate them, the fan-shot footage shows Payton continuing to lash out even as teammates tried to pull him away.

At one point, as Anuseim remained on the ground amid the pileup, Payton appeared to stomp down toward Anuseim’s helmet before being grabbed and hauled to his feet by a teammate. The move immediately sparked outrage online, with many viewers calling for a suspension.

The chaotic sideline brawl may not be over just yet. NFL discipline is likely looming following the in-game fight between the New York Giants and the Las Vegas Raiders. Under league rules, both players involved could face fines, with the standard penalty for fighting set at $40,686 per player.

League officials are expected to review all available video footage before issuing a final decision. While fines are the most common outcome, suspensions remain on the table depending on what the NFL determines after its review.

Neither team has publicly commented on potential discipline as of now, but a ruling is expected in the coming days.

The altercation unfolded during a 34–10 Giants victory, a game that carried significance beyond the final score. The win snapped New York’s nine-game losing streak and marked interim head coach Mike Kafka’s first win with the team.

For Las Vegas, the loss dropped the Raiders to 2–14 on the season, extending their losing streak to 10 games. Injuries played a major role, with several key players sidelined, including star pass rusher Maxx Crosby.

Head coach Pete Carroll acknowledged the impact of those absences after the game, saying, “That’s what we look like without those guys playing. Unfortunately, they’re that valuable to us.”
