Kate Gosselin Gets The Green Light To Walk Again After 'Life-Altering' Injury

Kate Gosselin has achieved a significant milestone in her recovery journey after 82 days of not walking.

The "Jon & Kate Plus 8" alum, who has since become a rising star on TikTok, shared the big news with fans over the weekend. She documented her doctor's appointment, revealing she had gotten approval to walk again.

Kate Gosselin suffered a "life-altering" leg injury in September that required one of the top three painful surgeries she had ever undergone. The incident occurred amid her blossoming relationship with her former bodyguard, Steve Neild, and resurfaced affair rumors.

Gosselin updated her TikTok page on Saturday, December 20, with a video chronicling her trip to the hospital to check on her healing leg. The clip started off with an excited Gosselin in the car, telling fans that it was the big day to decide if she could walk again.

The video cuts to her arrival at the hospital, capturing Gosselin using crutches to make her way inside while keeping the weight off her injured leg. Finally, at the doctor's office, she received the long-awaited green light to walk again, and then came scenes of her testing out the leg.

Gosselin excitedly placed her weight on the injured foot, took a few steps with the aid of her crutches, and even did a little exercise to start building back muscle in the leg. She noted walking wouldn't begin immediately, but she would slowly strengthen herself until she could walk properly.

Gosselin captioned the post with her excitement, writing, "It's WALKING DAY!! FINALLY! After 82 LONG days of no walking, I'm finally allowed!!" Her words sparked similar sentiments from fans, who were just as pleased as Gosselin.

"Kate, so happy this day has arrived for you!!! Slow & easy, but you got this!!!" someone encouraged the entertainer. Another agreed, dubbing Gosselin a woman who always does "everything with patience and tenacity!"

The comment caught Gosselin's attention, and she claimed her experience with the leg injury "is the first thing that has rivaled being pregnant with sextuplets!!!!!" She rose to fame on the reality TV show "Jon & Kate Plus 8," which chronicled her life as the mother of sextuplets and twins.

When Gosselin first announced her injury, she gave fans a fright by asking for prayers without any details. The Blast covered the story, reporting that she shared a shot of her hand connected to an IV alongside the words:

"Please pray for me tonight and tomorrow. I will be fine, but I'm scared and would appreciate your prayers."

After sparking widespread concern for her health, Gosselin later explained that she had undergone surgery for a tibial plateau fracture, which she dubbed "one of those things that is a life-altering event."

The operation, which required plates and pins to be placed in her leg, was in the "top three most painful" surgeries she had ever experienced.

Although Gosselin fractured her leg while playing with her dog, she enjoyed a smooth recovery journey thanks to her boyfriend. As stated, the incident occurred amid her blossoming romance with her former bodyguard, Neild, with whom she once sparked affair rumors.

The Blast reported in October that Gosselin had raved about their relationship in a TikTok post, where she claimed her dog loved Neild as much as he loved her. In response, a fan noted that she looked happier with her new boyfriend, and the former reality TV star agreed.

Gosselin implied that her children had given her relationship their approval, writing, "My kids always worried about me being alone when they were grown. This makes them so happy, too. Which of course makes me even happier!" However, not everyone was on board with her romance.

When Kate claimed her kids were happy with her relationship with Neild, the list did not include her estranged son, Collin Gosselin. The latter has repeatedly called her out on social media for lying about the timing of her new relationship and claiming she had cheated on his dad with the former bodyguard.

Besides the infidelity claims, Collin had also accused Kate of years-long abuse and isolation from his other siblings. The Blast reported in November that he had doubled down on his accusations in a heated post on his Instagram Story.

Collin claimed that people on social media had been saying horrible things about him for speaking out against Kate; however, he vowed never to stay silent.

He alleged his mom had verbally and physically abused him whenever his siblings weren't around, an experience that pushed him to advocate for children in similar situations.
