Eyebrows are being raised over the Justice Department's release of the Epstein files on Friday, December 19, after it was discovered that a photograph featuring President Donald Trump was quietly removed from the troves of documents shortly after its release, per HuffPost.

The image in question, identified as file EFTA0000468, reportedly depicted an open desk drawer containing multiple personal photographs.

Among the items visible were a picture of Donald Trump alongside several young women, as well as a separate photo of him with Epstein and his partner Ghislaine Maxwell.

A further review by the news outlet showed that the absence of the photo left a conspicuous numerical gap in the digital archive from "467" to "469."

"This photo, file 468, from the Epstein files that includes Donald Trump has apparently now been removed from the DOJ release," House Oversight Democrats said on social media. "[Attorney General Pam] Bondi, is this true? What else is being covered up? We need transparency for the American public."

Trump and Epstein used to be in the same social circle long before he became the country's first citizen; hence, many people desired to see what the nature of their relationship was.

However, the billionaire politician is noticeably absent from the document, which contained photos of Epstein with Bill Gates, disgraced actor Kevin Spacey, musicians Mick Jagger, Diana Ross, and Michael Jackson, and billionaire entrepreneur Richard Branson.

Former Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor also appeared in a group photo with Maxwell and other individuals, whose faces were redacted. Andrew has since lost his royal titles over his connection with Epstein, but has continually denied any wrongdoing.

Former president Bill Clinton appeared on several occasions with women whose faces were redacted, with another showing him in a swimming pool with Maxwell.

However, the mere appearance of these individuals in the files doesn't mean any wrongdoing was done.

Issues Raised Over The Transparency Of The Justice Department

Many have already called foul on the Justice Department's release of the files, decrying how it wasn't transparent.

On social media, some Americans questioned why the first tranche was released, in contrast to Congress's rule that demanded they release all unclassified documents related to the investigation.

Some even shared that the focus on Clinton goes to show how curated it was to exonerate other people who have been linked to Epstein.

Before the over 20,000 documents went public, a source told CNN that the documents would be heavily redacted and that many lawyers who worked on it grew frustrated because of the time crunch.

"Either they're going to screw it up, or they're going to withhold things. It wouldn't surprise me," one lawyer told the news outlet. "Some of it may be incompetence as much as deliberate."

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said in an interview with Fox News that the department would not meet the full Friday deadline for all documents because of the need to review, redact, and process thousands of pages.

Meanwhile, lawmakers are already threatening legal actions and impeachment charges against Attorney General Pam Bondi following the partial release of the files.

According to HuffPost, Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) appeared on "The Source," where he told host Kaitlan Collins that he and Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) are considering impeachment procedures against Bondi for how she handled the documents.

"Thomas Massie and I talked about it," Khanna said. "He's working, as am I, on drafting articles of impeachment and inherent contempt. We haven't decided whether to move it forward yet, but we're in the process of doing it."

Garcia and Jamie Raskin of Maryland are also understood to be considering taking legal actions over the DOJ's refusal to release the full document, insisting that it translates into an open "violation" of Congress's ruling.

"We are now examining all legal options in the face of this violation of federal law," a joint statement from the lawmakers read, per Scripps News.

It continued, "The survivors of this nightmare deserve justice, the co-conspirators must be held accountable, and the American people deserve complete transparency from DOJ."
