Britney Spears has been accused of owing the IRS $600,000 in taxes for the tax year ending in 2021. However, the singer has hit back at the claims and has also filed a legal document disputing the figures.
She recently sparked concerns about the state of her health, with sources claiming the pop star no longer keeps in touch with her family.
It comes amid reports that Britney Spears is considering moving to the UK to escape her family's reach, with an insider saying "hell will freeze over" before she reconciles with her dad.
Britney Spears Says She's Not Owing The IRS

Federal tax authorities have reached out to Britney Spears and are reportedly seeking to recoup a massive $600,000 payment in back taxes from her. But, the pop icon claims she's not owing a dime.
According to TMZ, Spears received a notice of deficiency for the tax year ending 2021, but she responded with her own legal filing claiming her records are spotless.
She reportedly said that the discrepancies would possibly arise as a result of the tax body's mistake in adjusting her share of income from Shiloh Standing Inc., to the tune of $1,390,922. The company is understood to have been started by her father, Jamie, shortly after her conservatorship kicked off.
The "Baby One More Time" singer also added that the IRS made a mistake in adjusting her deduction from her annual income tax return in the amount of $334,372.
She further added that the penalty they threw in, amounting to $120,143.80, was wrong. Spears maintains that she hasn't defaulted in any way and has receipts to prove it.
The Singer Was Once Under A Conservatorship

In 2008, Spears' father petitioned for a temporary legal guardianship to manage her finances and personal life, due to the singer's struggles at the time.
Years later, she kicked against it and garnered support from fans in a #FreeBritney social movement in 2020.
The following year, she appeared in court, where she accused her father, family, and management of abuse, coercion, and mistreatment, asking for the "abusive" arrangement to be cancelled as she was "traumatized," per the BBC.
"This conservatorship is doing me way more harm than good," she said. "I deserve to have a life."
At the time, her father's lawyer said the conservatorship was "necessary to protect Britney in every sense of the word," adding that her life "was in shambles and she was in physical, emotional, mental, and financial distress."
The Spears Family Is Growing Tired

Since then, Spears has largely remained estranged from her father and her family, amid worries that she may not be doing well health-wise.
According to the Daily Mail, sources close to her family shared that her close associates and family members aren't as keen to stick their necks out, especially as she continues to exhibit "disturbing" behavior.
"There are a lot of red flags right now. Her behavior is disturbing, and we don't really know what to do next," an insider said.
"There's not much we actually can do, since she's a grown-ass woman who can make her own decisions, but I worry that she thinks we don't have her best interests at heart when we really do," they added.
Another insider who spoke to the news outlet said the 44-year-old singer "is in no rush to get back to family who have been trying to contact her," before adding that they may start giving her space periodically before trying again.
The Singer's Ex-Husband Talked About Her Past Struggles In His Memoir

Spears' IRS troubles come after her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, released his memoir "You Thought You Knew," in which he recalled the singer's past actions, particularly involving her sons, Sean Preston Federline and Jayden James Federline.
In the book, Kevin claimed Spears struggled with drug addiction and behaved disturbingly towards their sons while dealing with her mental health issues.
He said that at one point, the children woke up to find Speras standing with a knife in her hand, watching them.
"Every visit seemed to end with her yelling about something," Kevin stated in his memoir. "The boys just didn't want to deal with it anymore."
Britney Spears Is Considering Moving To London

Meanwhile, Spears is reportedly looking to move to the UK to escape her family and life issues generally. According to reports, a source said that she's looking to move to London because she desires a "new place to set up home."
She reportedly thinks "hell would freeze over" before she forgives Jamie or any other family member, as rumors suggest they may be looking to stage another comeback into her life.
"Britney has said that she wants to live in England," a source said. "Britney feels she has a real connection to the UK. When she was in her teens, Princess Diana was a major influence on her life, and she was obsessed with her sons William and Harry."
They continued, "She loves all things about the Royal family and has said that she wants to take time to see the sights there. She consumes news about things to see in London online.
The source added, "And she has always felt proud to be able to mimic the English accent well, too."
