New details about the beloved film producer's final moments have emerged, with sources claiming he confided in pals about his fears regarding his troubled son, Nick Reiner. The latter has since been arrested for the murder of his famous parents.

Rob Reiner and his longtime partner, Michele Singer Reiner, were found dead in their Brentwood home on Sunday, December 14. They were brutally stabbed to death, and their daughter discovered the gruesome crime scene.

According to new reports, Rob and Michele's A-list friends held an impromptu memorial for them a day after their tragic passing. In line with their Jewish faith, the couple allegedly hoped to be buried within 24 hours of their deaths, and their friends granted their wishes.

Although the couple's bodies remain in police custody due to the ongoing investigation into their murder, several stars gathered at comedian Albert Brooks’ Brentwood home to honor their memory and hopefully ease their spirits. An insider claimed it was at this event that a celebrity guest shared Rob's final words about Nick.

Rob, Michele, and Nick had attended a holiday party hosted by Conan O'Brien, but the merry atmosphere was ruined when the couple's infamous son stormed out after a heated row. The insider told The Daily Mail that a heartbroken Rob walked over to a group of friends after the incident, saying:

“I'm petrified of him. I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I'm afraid of my son. I think my own son can hurt me.”

According to the insider, after the unnamed A-lister shared Rob's alleged confession about Nick, those at the memorial became overwhelmed with emotions. They claimed many were left in tears, as their hearts ached for the late couple who tried everything to help their troubled son.

Despite these claims, a representative for one of the celebrities at the memorial argued that Rob never said anything about his son at O'Brien's holiday party. The guests included Rob and Michele's longtime friends, comedians Larry David, Bill Hader, and O'Brien.

Actor Billy Crystal and his producer wife, Janice, were also in attendance. The couple have been close friends with Rob and Michele, a years-long bond that made the deceased's daughter call them after discovering her parents’ bodies. Billy and Janice were spotted in tears when authorities arrived on December 14.

As one of the last people to see Rob and Michele alive, O'Brien allegedly wasn't taking their deaths well. The Blast covered the story, reporting that sources claimed the TV host was plagued by guilt because he wondered if he could have stopped the tragedy.

One source explained that O'Brien noticed the fight between Rob and Nick at his party and was heartbroken over the incident. He allegedly wondered if stepping in to diffuse the situation could have prevented Rob and Michele's deaths.

Another source echoed similar sentiments, claiming O'Brien's mind was filled with what-ifs, wondering if what he did or didn't do could have led to a better outcome. “He's wracked with guilt,” the source added, stating that he was replaying every detail from the party in his mind.

O'Brien's holiday party was the last time Rob, Michele, and Nick were spotted together, with insiders sharing more details about what allegedly happened. The Blast shared that these insiders painted Nick as troublesome during the event.

According to insiders, Nick disturbed guests by asking them bizarre questions such as “What's your name? What's your last name? Are you famous?” Although he seemingly got under everyone's skin, the situation didn't escalate until Hader entered the picture.

After Rob introduced Nick to the “Saturday Night Live” alum, he bombarded Hader with his weird questions. However, the comedian shut him down by stressing he was in a private conversation and shouldn't be interrupted. Unfortunately, his words caused Nick to storm off, eventually leading to his heated row with Rob.

A family insider recently shed light on Nick's behavior behind the scenes, describing him as “entitled.” The Blast reported that the insider claimed he “wanted to live a life that didn't exist,” striving for fame without the hard work.

The insider noted that Nick expected he would be loved like his famous parents despite having nothing to show for it. Another source described the troubled Reiner as his family's biggest emotional burden.

They explained that Rob and Michele “felt enormous guilt” for years because they could not help Nick overcome his addiction and get his life together. The late couple's son remains behind bars without bail, while his arraignment has been postponed to January 7, 2026.
