On Monday, December 15, Patrick reacted to Trump's shocking statement about Rob's passing. The POTUS criticized the deceased in a heated Truth Social post where he claimed he died from “TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME.”

“What a disgusting and vile statement,” Patrick wrote. His words sparked mixed responses from fans, with MAGA supporters and critics clashing in the comments. Many could not believe Trump had been so insensitive, with someone writing, “It's hard to believe this isn't fake.”

Another agreed, claiming it was “on brand” for Trump to write such an insulting statement, while a third declared that “nobody is as deranged by Trump as Trump himself.” On the other hand, Trump supporters believed he wasn't in the wrong for expressing his views on Rob.

Despite the media outrage, Trump did not apologize but stood firm on criticizing Rob. The Blast reported that he doubled down on his stance while speaking with reporters in the Oval Office. “He was a deranged person as far as Trump is concerned,” the president claimed.

Trump accused Rob of being one of the people responsible for spreading the Russian hoax, arguing that the deceased knew it was false yet still insisted the POTUS was being controlled by Russia. He reiterated that Rob acted like a “deranged person.”

“So I was not a fan of Rob Reiner at all, in any way, shape, or form. I thought he was very bad for our country,” Trump added. In his Truth Social post that sparked backlash, he claimed Rob died from “the anger he caused others” with his “TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME.”

According to Trump, Rob had a “raging obsession” with him, and his alleged paranoia skyrocketed with the successes of the Trump administration. He claimed the deceased “was known to have driven people CRAZY” because of this obsession.

Despite slamming Rob, Trump concluded the post with a rest in peace prayer for the film director and his wife, Michele. However, ending the scathing post with R.I.P. did not sit right with Patrick and his mother, who similarly called out Trump for his lack of sympathy on X.

The Blast shared that Shriver penned a lengthy message to the insensitive president, noting that she typically chose to rise above the noise. Nonetheless, she could not stay silent because of Trump's “inhumane behavior,” arguing that his statement lacked “human decency” and was “absolutely disgusting."

Unlike her son, who had a few sharp words for Trump, Shriver had plenty to say to the president. She called him out for lacking empathy in the time of a family's tragedy, writing: “What kind of human being would share a statement like this, much less a president?”

Shriver noted her late pals would have wanted her to ignore Trump, but staying silent was not an option. In a second tweet, the former First Lady of California raved about her love for Rob and Michele. She described them as devoted and loving parents, who never stopped caring for their kids.

According to sources close to Rob and Michele, the late couple was worried about their son's substance addiction and declining mental health. The Blast covered the story, reporting that an insider claimed the late entertainer was “scared” for his son.

“Rob had been telling people that they’re scared for Nick and scared that his mental state was deteriorating,” the insider alleged. They claimed Rob and Michele had tried everything to help Nick overcome his addiction to no avail.

Another source echoed similar sentiments, claiming Michele had been telling friends for months about Nick's issues. She allegedly claimed they had done everything in their power to help, but years of rehabilitation could not save their son.

Rob Reiner’s son remains behind bars without bail.
