Flavor Flav Brings Big Energy And Bikes To Las Vegas Children With Raising Cane’s

Christmas came early and was a night 100 kids won’t soon forget! 

Raising Cane’s teamed up with hip hop icon Flavor Flav in Las Vegas to spread holiday cheer by donating 100 bikes and helmets to Communities in Schools of Nevada, a nonprofit dedicated to helping underserved students stay in school and thrive. 

The Blast was present at the Raising Cane's new Fremont Street location in Las Vegas on Monday evening to see the kids receiving their bikes and helmets. Flavor Flav shared a little with The Blast about why the event and teaming up with Cane’s is so important to him. 

It was a packed parking lot on Monday night at the newest Vegas Raising Cane's location. Kids (and parents) were wearing Santa hats and full of excitement for the moment Santa Flav would arrive to gift them a cool new bike and helmet. 

Flavor Flav joined the celebration by handing out bikes, taking photos with kids, and speaking with the media about the importance of giving back and his partnership with Raising Cane’s.

This event is part of Raising Cane’s sixth annual bike giveaway tradition, inspired by founder Todd Graves’ childhood memories of receiving a bike on Christmas morning. After donating 2,500 bikes last year, the brand is expanding the effort nationwide this season, gifting more than 4,000 bikes and helmets to kids through partnerships with youth organizations and special guests.

This isn't the first time hip-hop legend and cultural icon Flavor Flav has teamed up with Raising Cane's. This event holds a special place for him because of the kids and his "love for holidays."

"The kids and not only that, it's the love for Christmas and the love for holidays. You love to see happiness on people's faces," he told The Blast exclusively. "The thing that goes through my mind was when I was a kid. When I had gotten my first bike, it was one of the best feelings ever in the world as a kid. So that's what it takes me back to, all the way back to my childhood."

Flavor Flav, known for his larger-than-life personality and being the ultimate hype man, has been a good friend of Raising Cane's for some time. He also joined forces with them on a "Flavor Fest" campaign and hosted a Cane's bike giveaway in Vegas last year.

When discussing his love for the partnership with Raising Cane's, he said, "Raising Cane's is full of me - flavor!"

"Also, it's just a wonderful treatment that I get from the owner. Todd, thank you for all of the love and thanks for having me," he continued. "Raising Cane's is the funnest campaign I've ever done in my life."

He also shared that he loves teaming up with Cane's because he can "go into any one of the restaurants and have fun with the employees and just rock out."  

Southern Nevada Executive Director for Communities in Schools in Nevada, Laura Meyer, shared her gratitude for the event ahead of gifting the kids with their new bikes.

"I want to say first thank you to Raising Cane's," she began. "Last week we were here, they did an angel tree for one of our schools. This week we're here, they're giving out bikes to kids in four schools across CCSD. We work in 75 schools so we're super excited to have you."

She continued by sharing that all the kids at the event have been working hard, setting goals, looking toward the future, and she was really excited that they were about to get a bike from Raising Cane's.

About a week ago, Cane's hosted a similar bike event in Times Square in New York City with "A Christmas Story" star Peter Billingsley.

"Spreading Christmas cheer with our 6th Annual Holiday Bike Giveaway in Times Square with the Boys & Girls Club of Harlem," an Instagram post on Cane's IG page reads. "Special guest, A Christmas Story star, @officialpeterb joined in the celebration to help rollout our nationwide 4,500 bike giveaway."

To further celebrate the holiday season, Cane's is currently "triple dog" daring everyone to enjoy a box combo with a little holiday nostalgia thanks to a partnership with "A Christmas Story." They are also selling Cane's ornaments to decorate your Christmas tree or gift to your favorite Cane's fan.
