Why Late Rob Reiner Wanted Wife Michele To ‘Atone’ For Her Odd Connection To Donald Trump

Rob Reiner was not Donald Trump's biggest fan, and he was never afraid to say it. 

The late film director once revealed that his wife had worked with the president years ago, joking that she had to atone for being associated with him.

Following Rob Reiner and Michele Reiner's gruesome deaths, Trump openly mocked them, tagging their deaths a result of "Trump Derangement Syndrome." 

Michele dabbled in photography before veering into the film industry, where she became a producer and filmmaker alongside her husband.

When Rob was featured on the "Off Message" podcast in 2017, he revealed that his wife was the photographer who captured Trump for the original cover of his book, "Trump: The Art of the Deal," released in 1987. 

Recalling an incident involving his wife and the world leader, the late director said:

“At one point, they were up on this high-rise that he was constructing, and they were going to take the pictures overlooking Central Park. And the wind was blowing, and he said, 'I got to get this hairspray,' you know, 'I need this special hairspray.’”

The late film director further noted that Trump was always "larger than life" and had a "charismatic celebrity way" about him. However, he made it clear that he was not a fan.

A year later, the topic of the photograph that connected his wife to Trump came up, and as People Magazine reported, Rob joked about it, saying, "She has a lot to atone for." 

Just like Rob was not a fan of Trump, the president similarly disliked the actor. 

Following Rob's death, Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to mock him and somewhat justify his death.

The president claimed that the producer was obsessed with him and must've died "due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME."

Trump claimed that Rob drove other people "Crazy" with his obsession and became paranoid when the president's administration exceeded expectations. 

As expected, the president was not spared for his remarks about Rob's death. Many people online slammed him for being "cruel" and "heartless."

According to The Blast, someone criticized Trump for his statements, writing, "Regardless of politics, using someone's death to make a joke or a political point is just bottom-of-the-barrel behavior. We've lost the script on basic human decency if this is considered acceptable discourse."

Another further slammed him, writing, "This is the most disgusting post Donald Trump has ever made." 

Despite the heavy criticism he faced following his initial remarks against Rob, Trump seemed determined to stand by his opinions. 

He doubled down on his attack by calling Rob a "deranged person." He further made it clear that he was not a "fan of Rob Reiner at all" and accused the late actor of being one of the people behind the "Russia Hoax." 

He then concluded by noting that Rob was "very bad" for the country, per The Blast.

While the president continued to attack Rob on social media, details surrounding the late actor's death emerged, indicating that there were unusual circumstances surrounding the unfortunate incident.

The Blast confirmed that Rob's son, Nick Reiner, was taken into custody by the Los Angeles Police Department and was officially booked on Monday. He is said to have been charged with a felony, with bail set at $4 million.

Nick's parents were found dead in their Chadbourne Avenue home with "lacerations consistent with a knife." However, there were reportedly no signs of forced entry in the house. 

Law enforcement officers discovered the gruesome scene after the fire department received a call on Sunday. Soon after finding the bodies, LAPD Robbery Homicide Division detectives took over the scene and promptly began an investigation. 

Notably, before the death of his parents, Nick had previously opened up about his struggles with drug addiction, noting that he had gone through several rehabilitation programs and was rendered homeless countless times. 

Although the investigation is still ongoing, Nick is rumored to be behind his parents' deaths.
