Hours after news broke that singer Trey Songz had been arrested and charged with assault after an incident in a New York City nightclub, shocking footage of the 41-year-old arguing with police officers and bystanders has surfaced.
Trey Songz has had a troubled history with the law, as the "Slow Motion" artist has been accused of sexual and physical assault repeatedly by several victims.
In another incident, Songz was accused of hurling racial expletives at a white police officer during one of his concerts in 2016.

A video shared on the popular Instagram blog The Neighboorhood Room shows the aftermath of the alleged altercation at Dramma Nightclub in Times Square. The singer was handcuffed behind his back and questioned the officers why he was being taken into custody. "I didn't touch anybody!" he exclaimed.
A second clip shows the "Bottoms Up" singer being escorted outside and into a police vehicle. The hood of his sweatshirt was up—likely an apparent effort to conceal his identity from the public. Songz continued attempting to explain his version of events with the NYPD officers, saying, "Brother, I was assaulted!"
In the background of the video, members of Songz's entourage expressed their disappointment with the situation, accusing the officers of performing their duties improperly and of holding the singer without cause.
Why Was Trey Songz Arrested?

According to The Blast, Songz was arrested in NYC in early December 2025 after allegedly getting into an explosive altercation with a staff member of Dramma nightclub. According to official reports, Songz became "irate" when a staff member told him the building would be closing around 4 AM EST and that he and his crew would need to exit. Songz allegedly punched the employee, triggering the assault charge.
Songz was also charged with second-degree mischief from a separate incident that same day. The report stated that Songz was involved in an altercation at Mira, a Manhattan eatery and hookah lounge. There, Songz allegedly damaged $1,500 worth of restaurant property, including smoking kits, DJ equipment, and building furniture.
Fans React To Trey Songz's Recent Legal Woes

The video of Songz's recent arrest sparked a strong reaction from users who seem unsurprised by the singer's latest legal woes. "This n—a NEVERRR do nothing," a user wrote, while another said, "Bruh needs some anger management classes or something."
Other users questioned whether the singer was in the right state of mind, asking, "Is he drunk? Or high? The words are slurring." Another user wrote, "He already sounds intoxicated."
Several other social media users slammed the singer over his previous assault allegations, writing that he has too many for there to be a misunderstanding. "He assaults everyone anytime something doesn't go his way. We are tired of him, lock him up," someone commented.
Songz's Lawyer Speaks Out Against The Recent Charges

It didn't take long for Songz's lawyer, Mitchlee Schuster, to fire back against the recent allegations against his client. As he explained, Songz had a strong reaction at the Dramma nightclub because he was allegedly approached by a group of individuals who "instigated a confrontation and attempted to surround him."
Schuster claimed that Songz's personal security tried to break up the fight; however, the situation quickly escalated into an explosive altercation. "Despite being the target of the initial provocation, Trey was arrested," Schuster said. "Public figures are often treated as targets for instigation in pursuit of headlines or financial gain. Trey is cooperating fully in both matters, and we are confident the full context and facts will come to light."
Songz Was Accused Of Hurling Racial Slurs At A Police Officer In 2016

Of course, this isn't the first time Songz has been accused of assault. According to an earlier report from The Blast, Songz was accused of punching Sgt. Robert Avery during one of his concerts in 2016.
Official reports stated that Songz became agitated when his concert at the Joe Louis Arena was cut short due to his late start. After the stage lights came on, Songz reportedly became so angry that he began throwing things into the audience, including a microphone stand that hit an audience member.
Avery attempted to arrest Songz; however, he stated that he fell and hit his head after being punched by the singer. He also claimed that Songz hurled racial slurs at him, such as, "'F-ck you, cr--ker white motherf-ker,' 'Don’t touch me, you white motherf-ker,' 'F-ck you all h-nkeys,' and 'F-ck the police."
