Michelle Obama's Shocking Revelation About The Night The Reiners Died

The night Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were killed was meant to be an ordinary evening spent with close friends. 

Instead, it became a moment that would haunt those closest to them. Michelle Obama has now revealed that she and Barack Obama were expecting to see the couple just hours before their deaths, a detail that has stunned many. 

She also pushed back forcefully against political narratives surrounding the Hollywood icon’s death.

Michelle stunned audiences on Monday when she disclosed that she and her husband were meant to spend Sunday night with Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele. 

Speaking on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” the former First Lady explained that the plans had already been set when the shocking news of their deaths arrived. 

“We’ve known them for many, many years, and we were supposed to be seeing them that night – last night – and we got the news,” she told Kimmel.

Michelle used the moment to defend the Reiners against public attacks that followed their deaths. 

She pushed back strongly against claims that politics played a role, saying, “Let me just say this, unlike some people, Rob and Michele Reiner are some of the most decent, courageous people you ever want to know.” 

Drawing applause from the studio audience, the 61-year-old emphasized their character, adding, “They’re not deranged or crazed.” 

Continuing her remarks, Michelle painted a clear picture of who Rob Reiner and his wife were behind closed doors. 

She described them as people driven by conviction rather than controversy. 

“What they have always been are passionate people in a time when there’s not a lot of courage going on,” she said, highlighting their willingness to stand up for what they believed in.

Michelle stressed that the couple consistently matched words with action. 

“They’re the kind of people who were ready to put their actions behind what they cared about,” she explained, before listing the values that defined them, such as family, country, fairness, and equity. 

The mom of two ended her remarks firmly, declaring, “And that is the truth. I do know them.” 

Michelle’s interview came shortly after President Donald Trump sparked major controversy online after appearing to mock Rob’s death.  

As The Blast reported, he said on his Truth Social platform that the couple’s deaths were “reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS.” 

He described Rob as a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star. 

Trump also claimed Rob had “driven people CRAZY,” with his obsession for the politician.

Later on, Trump doubled down on his mockery while speaking with reporters in the Oval Office. 

According to The Blast, he clarified that he wasn’t a fan of Rob, adding, “He was a deranged person as far as Trump is concerned.”

Rob Reiner and Michele were found stabbed to death inside their $13.5 million Brentwood mansion on Sunday. 

Police later said their daughter, Romy, discovered their bodies. 

Authorities now allege that the couple’s son, Nick Reiner, is “responsible” for their deaths, a development that has stunned Hollywood and the public alike.

The 32-year-old was arrested Monday night at a Los Angeles subway station in Exposition Park, about 15 miles from his parents’ home. 

Dramatic images showed him being taken into custody by the LAPD’s Robbery Homicide Division with assistance from the U.S. Marshals. 

Nick is now facing federal murder charges, is being held without bail, and is scheduled to appear for arraignment at the Superior Court of Los Angeles County. 

Following the tragedy, new details emerged about the hours leading up to the deaths. 

Earlier that evening, Rob, Michele, and Nick attended a holiday party at Conan O’Brien’s home. 

Witnesses later told investigators that Nick was involved in a “very loud argument” with his parents, enough to make other guests uneasy. 

One source told PEOPLE, “Nick was freaking everyone out, acting crazy, kept asking people if they were famous.”

After the party, events took a darker turn. Around 4 a.m., Nick checked into The Pierside Santa Monica hotel. 

Staff later discovered a shower “full of blood,” with a trail leading to his bed and a window covered with bedsheets. 

Witnesses described Nick as looking “tweaked out,” noting that he never checked out of the hotel. 

Hours later, the Reiners were found dead, bringing terrifying clarity to what had unfolded overnight.
