Kimora Lee Simmons' Relationship Claims Cancels Out Ex's Silence

Kimora Lee Simmons and her first ex-husband, Russell Simmons, are back in the headlines for their differences.

The former couple have been butting heads for years following the acrimonious end of their marriage in 2006. They officially divorced in 2009 and share two daughters, Ming and Aoki.

Kimora Lee Simmons also shares two sons from her past relationship with actor Djimon Hounsou and her second marriage to Tim Leissner. She also adopted a son from Jamaica and has a "bonus son," who has been a part of her family since the fourth grade.

The drama between Kimora and Russell began after the model's latest interview, where she claimed to be the sole parent of her children. She implied their fathers weren't present in their lives, a claim her ex-husband did not take quietly.

Russell called out Kimora for allegedly telling tall tales on Instagram Threads. "I gave you 50,000 a month for 20 years. I was your best/only friend. I'm the godfather to your other 3 kids, until one day you stole my stock," he began, adding:

"I have been fighting for my kids' love and my bread ever since. You threatened that if I sued you, I would never speak to my kids again. There are two sides to every story."

Although Russell painted himself as the victim, fans did not side with him and refused to listen to his side of the story. Many reminded him of the inappropriate start of his relationship with Kimora, arguing that he did not have the right to complain.

"...I thought sex offenders weren't supposed to have internet access?" someone wondered. Another agreed, claiming Russell had "a lot of nerve even being online." A third echoed similar sentiments, stressing that he chose to be the best friend of a 16-year-old girl when he was 34.

The criticism continued, with more fans slamming Russell for his past relationship with Kimora. An IG user claimed 50K was less than what Kimora deserved for having two children with a predator, while a displeased fan described Russell's post as the "classic signs of a NARCISSIST!"

As stated, the drama began after Kimora sat down for a candid interview with PEOPLE for the magazine's latest issue. She claimed that she did not really have a relationship with her baby daddies, saying:

"Usually, I would say that I co-parent okay, but the kids are with me full-time. I'm pretty much the primary parent."

Kimora confessed that it was "difficult" holding the fort down on her own; however, she managed to make do with the aid of her family and friends. She added that it was easier for her to cope due to her nurturing nature because she enjoys being a mom.

This isn't the first time Kimora has described herself as a single mom, as she did so two years ago. In 2023, The Blast reported that the "Kimora: Life in the Fab Lane" star had clashed with her first ex-husband over their kids.

Following the drama, Kimora attended a public event, looking better than ever, and was asked about her mood. She declared that she was okay, seemingly referencing her feud with Russell by saying: "I'm a tough chic, I'm a single mom of five kids."

Kimora and Russell butted heads over their oldest daughter, Ming, after she wished her mom a happy Father's Day instead of the record executive. The move left him feeling bitter, and he penned a message about fathers having to fight for their children's love and implied the mothers were to blame for the situation.

The acrimonious history between Kimora and Russell continued, with the mother of five slamming her ex for blaming her for a situation he created. Her youngest daughter, Aoki, supported her by releasing a video call footage between her and her father.

In the clip, Russell appeared to be yelling at Aoki, who was crying and visibly upset. She presumably shared the video to showcase why Ming wished Kimora a happy Father's Day rather than Russell. The former couple similarly clashed in 2021 when the Def Jam Recordings co-founder sued his ex-wife.

The Blast shared that Russell had accused Kimora and her then-husband, Leissner, of illegally transferring his shares from the energy drink, Celsius.

He claimed they used the stocks to pay a bond linked to the criminal charges against Leissner; however, Kimora slammed the allegations as "extortive harassment."
